Today, Marvel is pleased to present your first look at CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS #1 – the brand-new in-continuity ongoing series inspired by the hit mobile game! Written by Al Ewing with art by Paco Medina – enter the Battlerealm, a broken section of space-time where cosmic beings gamble for the ultimate power.

Where unwilling pawns from across the Marvel Universe do battle for their very lives, locked in combat with friends, foes and everything in between. Even those long dead are not immune to the Contest. As heroes and villains from various universes are mysteriously transported to Battlerealm, the war is about to begin. That is a lot of variants. Still not sure if I am going to pick this up or not. Still leaning towards pass.

Hydra Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur is funny though.

Looks pretty cool. The series seems to be continuing the aspect of Secret Wars where alternate versions of Marvel characters fight. I don't know whether to like or hate Hydra Devil Dinosaur....

Ugh... This makes me sad considering I didn't want to buy this book but that Skottie Young variant is going straight into my collection.

@thekingofthehill: it's White Fox. She's from some famous Korean Web comic that became really popular. I peeked at an English translation of it... uh, to say it was dumb is an understatement. Simply put some mysterious badguys are making building come to life as godzillia sized monsters and yet the Avengers (all mcu ones) and White Fox (with 8 unlisted powers that she'll slowly reveal throughout series) try to stop it. I dropped it when White Fox was scratching the buildings up

Leaning to a pass on this series, will wait for it to appear on Marvel Unlimited.

That is Nigel Higgins, the British Punisher replacement known as Outlaw. He and a few other Punisher-wannabes debuted during the 90s Suicide Run story arc.

@jrjoanes: that guy is not the Punisher, he goes by "Outlaw." I don't think he's been in the comics in a long time but he's British & was inspired by the Punisher.

I never heard of Outlaw before, I thought it was an alternate Luke Cage from another reality who became the Punisher. "THE POWER PUNISHER!!!!!"

Joe Fixit? Well, thats been a while.

I'm going to say it because I'll probably be alone on it. This kinda makes me think of Arena from Infinite Crisis. Which to me wasn't a bad thing. I did like that series.

Who needs a plot when you can mash up two or three characters/create alternate versions and make em fight.

Hero vs hero, villain vs villain, to the death of course.

Because: doesn't matter. There's no plot to distract us.

The art work looks good. here's hoping that the story is decent.. Love that venom is wearing spideys costume as a cape, and wtf wow when's the last time joe fixit made an appreance? And outlaw is pretty cool il dig it and I guess this is also where white doc will make her marvel apprance?
