First Look: CAPTAIN MARVEL #3

The second issue of CAPTAIN MARVEL isn't even out yet and we are already seeing the unlettered preview for the series' third issue. Looks like things are way ahead of schedule for the series featuring one of Marvel's most powerful ladies. In the third issue Carol Danvers is caught in a serious battle with the Prowlers. I flipped through this at my LCS and got a bit turned off by the art initially. I had a heavy pull list that week so I skipped it. Maybe I made a mistake though...

this title rocks so hard

A lot of people have said that they hate the art, but I absolutely love it. This is exactly what the character needed - she's officially awesome. Is it possible that Marvel could actually learning from past mistakes with their female characters and solo titles? I would love for this series to have a very, very long run.

I am really liking this. I have been a fan of Carol since her first incarnation and it is good to see her finally take up the Captain title. She has earned it.

This. And I know a lot of people have been complaining about her mask and hair, but I like it, although I do admit her hair looks a bit off when she doesn't have the mask on, but together they look great.

So, excited to read more from Captain Marvel

And think i know what u mean; w/this new moniker that Ms Marvel has taken, she has become more than a female superhero, she looks to have become a fighting force, where her sex isnt a factor of how much a$$ she can kick!

The art seems pretty marmite. You either love it or you hate it.

I personally hate it but I like Carol as a character, so maybe if my local comic shop stocks it...

This art is so coool

I'm really feeling this new ongoing. I love Carol's new look now that I'm assured its not a mullet, and the art is just so wonderful. Plus, Kelly Sue Deconnick...what's not to love?

Looks cool just not too keen on the mask but a minor quibble. Just great to have a strong female character, which, even though I'm a dude, I appreciate seeing.

The artwork doesn't fit with Ms. Marvel's look and the action.

as before, love that carol has a book and the story is solid. I still hate the art. This is something that goes back to the 80's for me. I like my comic art crisp and clean. This hazy fuzzy watercolor smudge crap just looks awful to me. All the x-titles started doing it in the 80's and I hated it then. I would rather have that psuedo-anime style that everyone did in the 90's than this.
If you want to be "expressive" or show off your style, then open a gallery. Comic art is comericial art and comercial art should be as clean as possible.

I'm not really feeling it. I'll give it an arc, but so far it isn't doing it for me.

I love Captain Marvel thus far, and I love the art, but it seems that it doesn't do so well with bright colors. It also doesn't seem to mesh with the text bubbles that well. But I'll get used to it.

Loving the style of the art. Not a fan of the mask though.

Like the writing. even okay with the internal art... but the side greased fauxhawk weird hair thing needs to stop. I preferred the Dodsons' hair interpretation in Avenging Spiderman. JM2C. Too buchy... she can be a great superhero for guys and girls and not get butched out. (Female person here with my female person opinion. I never thought the original Ms Marvel costume was oversexed and I always liked her character. This hair tho it bugs. Maybe because I am a girl and we care about hair. XD )

Now if only Marvel could get Dexter Soy and Ed Brubaker to do a Spider-Man x Black Widow team-up adventure?

Dexter Soys artwork is incredible, its bold, edgy and rough. It speaks so loudly about Carolines persona, I think she looks more beautiful now. The suit is rocking. As a huge Ms Marvel fan I am so happy with her taking on the mantle of Captain Marvel, this girl has been waiting a long time to for a revamp!

I love the paint digital look it's so surreal and cool

still finding the art terrible... Kinda a shame... because I like the new direction Cap. Marvel is going... But the art ruins it for me.... 
If the interior art were the same as the cover or something similar I probably would love it...

the art is amazing i dont get ppl sometimes ..they just have to complain about every single stupid details.. I bet the ppl complaining about her hair haven't read the first issue by now everyone should know that her hair still the same and when she suits up she moves it back.

Except her hair ISN'T the same. Just look at the length of the strands at the top of her head compared to the length they were in her previous costume. There's a HUGE difference. Slicking her hair back doesn't suddenly change the length of the strands. And Dexter Soy may draw them slightly longer (still not nearly as long as they used to be), but look at how McGuinness draws the hair. Since he's the one who came up with this new look, you can assume the way he draws her is the way she's "supposed" to look now.

It's a haircut. And a bad one at that.
