Jonathan Hickman, Nick Spencer and Stefano Caselli are ready to give us the next chapter for the Avengers. INFINITY may be over but the action is just starting.

Following the events of INFINITY, our heroes have returned from the stars to find a very different Earth. New threats have emerged on the world they left behind, and new measures have risen up to deal with them. Earth has been marked an “Avengers World”, safely under the protection of Earth’s Mightiest.

But how will the nations and governments of the world respond to their claim – and what happens when it’s denied?

"The premise of the book is that it's the Avengers, doing big things, because it's an Avengers World now," editor Tom Brevoort said in an interview with Marvel.com. "But while we'll field the same potential lineup of 18+ Avengers in WORLD, we'll specifically be looking to give greater screen time to some of the newer Avengers, like Hyperion, Smasher, Cannonball, Shang-Chi, Starbrand and Sunspot."

Witness the beginning of a new globe-spanning epic of empires and armies – and the few heroes that stand between them and us this January in the blockbuster Avengers World #1!

The Hulk on the cover looks off to me. :/

Marvel seem to just be pushing the Avengers too much in my opinion.

YES! Ex Nihilo is my favourite!

Now he is Ex Nihilo "Trollface".

Looks interesting. I like that they say they'll give greater screen time to newer Avengers. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Hyperion did nothing against Thanos in infinity lol.

Looks good, Caselli rarely disappoints but I don't like how big the Avengers have become. I liked the smaller, more intimate group. It's difficult to develop characters and their relationships with each other when there's so many to take into consideration.

I've noticed from solicitations that the Avengers from the past are going to be brought into the present (I hope this isn't a theme Marvel is going for) in the regular "Avengers" ongoing, which interests me. I might give that a look over this.

1. What....does that have to do with anything? He didn't even fight Thanos, and Thanos would've curbstomped him. Thor could do nothing. Hulk could do nothing.....I don't see how Hyperion would do better

I'm sure it'll be interesting, but Marvel just feels too team-centric, especially with The Avengers (and X-men too). I try really hard to avoid certain Marvel books so I don't feel like I have to buy a bunch of other books to tie them in. At this point, who has never been an Avenger?

Did you read the issue to see what happened or......?

That's like me saying "Hulk is so weak! Proxima Midnight wooped him!"

You're kind of taking it out of context and simplifying it....and he kiled Corvus....

And patriat, you are correct. He didn't....but neither did Hulk,so....

@patrat18: They sent Hulk as a distraction... Right after that Thor went to fight him. The Cull Obsidian were also there. Are you saying Carol and Cap should've founght them on their own while Thor ,Hulk and Hyperion should've fought Thanos with no hope of winning. Thanos' durability feats were insane!

#24 Edited by JonSmith (3996 posts) - - Show Bio

Yes! The governments of the world reacting to the Avengers staking a claim to the planet! That's exactly what I wanted!

Also: When the hell is Thor getting those swords we saw in the early Marvel NOW previews?

OK, so Young Avengers is canceled. So is FF. But Fantastic Four and X-Factor are rebooting, and now I got to get this too. I am trying to see how I can get all these awesome comics and not spend too much.

Infinity tapped out my wallet even though it was only a 16 issue story but still for me to jump back in to my regular comics is going to have to wait til next year which is a shame because seeing that Ex Nihilo and Abyss stay withe the team. I will be picking this up once i get my wallet fat again til then Avengers World i wish you well.

I'm not implying anything. I'm just saying he didn't even show up to fight the big bad, when he got out the same ship all the other heroes were in.

Actually Cap didn't plan Hyperion to fight Thanos and he was busy saving the two captains against the couple Proxima & Corvus who by the way had the upper hand on Hulk and was about to cut his head off with a weapon which can cut atoms and Corvus did use it against Hyperion and he survive it and Mark killed Him. So he didn't have the time and the opportunity to fight the mad Titan and I think Hickman is waiting for another time for those two (Hyperion & Thanos) to fight after all the two survive the destruction of a universe but the weapon the couple were using were very dangerous even Superman would have a problem with those kind of weapon.

Or Hickman didn't want the whole "Surviving 2 universes" feat blowing up in his face

Dropping all Marvel and DC team related books from my pull list (the one exception now being Superior Foes of Spider-Man) was the best comic book decision I think I've ever made.

Lose Captain Universe, Ex Nihilo, Abyss, Starbrand, and Nightmask at the very least. All the team books start sucking when they get too fat, and Hickman's already struggled to find things to do for most of his characters (about how many lines did, say, Hawkeye, Sunspot, and Smasher get throughout all of Infinity?).

Hickman's a competent writer, but he's better at throwing out ideas that following through, and better at introducing characters than making them really feel human (or whatever).

Fewer lead characters = better books.

Spider-Woman's costume needs an update like yesterday. I wish stark would upgrade her look seeing that she's sporting the same colors he once wore. Just more of an updated verison of Peter Stark Armor would do.

Can't even read Avengers related titles anymore. Just like to old days when the X Men exploded all over the comics stands, it's just too much. Avengers and Avengers West Coast were okay, they made sense. All these Avengers titles now have just turned me off to the whole franchise.

@idontlikebirds: to me I dont have a problem with it, the expanded roster was introduced way back in Justice League Unlimited, brought to Marvel with Bendis's run, and just got amped up on this version of the team. So the Maters of Evil need to step their game up now lol

I do have a issues however with labeling everything "Avengers" From A.i, Arena, Assembled,Uncanny and now WORLD, it really is a sad attempt of cashing in on the success of the movie and maximizing their exposure.

Marvel never seemed to get the 'Less is More' concept, they seem to be about squeezing a concept or character for all its worth. The Punisher, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider and The X-men in the 90's all done it. But this is just overkill to me.

#50 Posted by Cap10nate (2296 posts) - - Show Bio

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Avengers will cease to double ship with the release of Avengers World. There will be the same amount of books released each month as before Infinity, it will just be split into two different titles.

I'm looking forward to it so that we can have two separate stories going on at the same time to give more characters the lime light than we would be able to receive if it was just one story that was double shipping.
