This week we saw some glorious action courtesy of Adam Kubert in AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #10. There was some pretty cool scenes with some of the heroes stepping up in trying to stop a Phoenix Force powered Cyclops. With only two more issues to go, there's no telling what might happen. It all has to end.

Here's a look at what's coming in the next issue. This time Oliver Coipel is handling the art.

The biggest comics event of the summer hits it’s red hot penultimate chapter as Marvel is pleased to present your first look at Avengers VS. X-Men #11! From the creative tour de force of Brian Michael Bendis & Olivier Coipel, the Avengers gather together to take on the remaining hosts of the Phoenix Force with the aid of Charles Xavier! Can the combined might of Earth’s Mightiest, Professor Xavier, the Scarlet Witch, Hope and more put an end to their reign once and for all?

Here comes the pain as all your favorite super heroes enter the battle—and only one team will emerge victorious! Don’t miss out Avengers Vs. X-Men #11, an extra sized issue at no extra cost, on sale this September in comic shops everywhere, on the Marvel Comics app, and the all-new Marvel Comics Webstore!

I am not reading AvX, who is the girl in the first picture that cyclops is shooting at?

#3 Posted by JohnnyWalker (821 posts) - - Show Bio

so much for chuck not interfering any more. and really marvel? storm vs emma? one very short fight. VERY short.

#4 Posted by JoseDRiveraTCR7 (1005 posts) - - Show Bio

This is what I expected considering the ending of AvX #10. Maybe this happens towards the middle of the book.

Emma Frost

Well we all saw this one coming...looks like Emma's going to die. Eeep. Question is; How long is it going to last?

#6 Posted by brucecapell (101 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm over this event honestly with the Marvel Now titles coming. Xavier dies and Legion brings the original 5 x-men back to continue his dream.

#7 Posted by Master_Thief (706 posts) - - Show Bio

emma dies and charles is going to be handicapped again.....

#8 Posted by Jonny_Anonymous (32719 posts) - - Show Bio

Hay remember when the X-Men used to be the good guys?

#9 Posted by RedQueen (1171 posts) - - Show Bio

Is it just me...or is it the more Emma is getting corrupted by the Phoenix, the less she wears? I swear her outfit is just getting smaller and smaller :p

#10 Posted by EdwardWindsor (14402 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks like storm Emma cap and xavier bs cyke to me

#11 Posted by Gonzo33 (111 posts) - - Show Bio

Charles won't end up in a wheelchair judging by the previews for WATX

#12 Posted by Mucklefluga (2513 posts) - - Show Bio

im still not interested in this event. ill probably just read the last issue at my LCS to see how it concludes and creates Marvel Now

#13 Posted by Dark_Vengeance_ (14587 posts) - - Show Bio

Make you bets! how will she die? will she be killed by cyclops? cap? Squirrel Girl? or will it be an accident? maybe she will not die... or maybe somebody else will die...

#14 Posted by Eclipse-32 (63 posts) - - Show Bio

Remembering Civil War, I think there's a chance that Xavier may die.

#15 Posted by hortrorog (16 posts) - - Show Bio

@PortlandsBatman:

thats storm attacking emma

#16 Posted by illegal (35 posts) - - Show Bio

the further this event goes the more cyclops is demonized by marvel smh

Although AvX is slightly better in terms of events that's not saying much. I'm sick and tired of the latest 'game changer' and I use that term loosely.

Did Cyclops lose the Phoenix Force already, if not why isn't Captain America's shield destroyed (I know it's supposed be indestructible, but against the Phoenix Force that's pushing it).

Am I the only one who thinks everything is the Avengers' fault? If they would have left Utopia alone, the Phoenix Force wouldn't have been destabilized. Instead of five insane hosts, it would just be Hope and she'd probably just fix the mutant race. Even after the Phoenix Five took power, they probably would have been great for the world, if the Avengers hadn't been constantly attacking and undermining their authority. Sure, we're supposed to see Cyke as the villain now, but I still think he's the best possible Phoenix host (though Phoenix Magneto would have been really awesome too).

If Emma dies and they temporarily replace her with this Jean Grey from the past, I will be angry.

#22 Posted by Chibi-Iroh (388 posts) - - Show Bio

I doubt that Emma is going to be the one that dies. Im hoping its Cyclops that gets killed and I hope its either Wolverine or Cap that does it. I hope Storm is fighting on the good side of this event.

@illegal: Same recipe with the civil war, guys. Back then, Tony became the "bad" guy. Now, this.

Actually, it looks to me like Cyclops and Emma are still working together in these two pages. It looks like Emma is fighting Storm, while Cyclops is fighting Cap and Prof X.

I was going by the cover (as the first picture) ;p

But yes, it does indeed look like Cyclops and Emma are still working together...Cyclops minus the Phoenix Force. (?)

My bad.

Yeah, Cyke might not be using the Phoenix Force. I know in the last issue after Hope punched him, his speech was no longer in red, indicating that perhaps his portion of the PF isn't at full strength and needs to recharge. Just my guess.

On a similar note; I think Cheung has done a great job with the covers for this event :D

The series has a few honorable mentions;

Wolverine carrying Thor's prone body to safety while his healing factor struggles to keep up as Iron Fist takes notice that Thor's Phoenix fire coated body is burning him alive ... Wolverine gruffly replies "just keep moving".

Spider-Man, yes, Spider-Man ... doing what he does best, saving the day ... painfully awesome.

These issue # 10 moments come to mind as I try to forget the silliness of Wolverine being lured to the jet by Hope using *sigh* beer cans, Thor getting spanked every second issue (seems like he was used as the patsy to prove how ubber everyone else was), Captain America acting OOC a little too often ... the X-Men looking more and more like the fascists they struggle daily to overcome ...

Despite all ups and downs, I will definitely stick it out for the conclusion and am actually looking forward to the new direction coming this fall.

nope it should resist the the blast (cap's shield)...its indestructible...thats the cool thing about it

Both parties are at fault and have made stupid actions.

If Avengers left everything alone Spider-Man wouldn't have been there to effect Hope like she needed and the world would have blown up.  Further supported by the fact when Hope was being infused by the PF on the moon she couldn't handle it. Also the reason supporting that the PF was even here to restart the mutants race was based on a  known lair an manipulator, Even in his version she didn't have Zero there to make the 5'th light.       Not saying the Avengers did everything right just saying staying out of it would have been worse.

Now, I think the Phoenix needs to reconsider its career. Its ability to instantly redeco its hosts shows me it could make a handsome living as a fashion designer.

@JoseDRiveraTCR7:

There was a mix of good and bad in 'those mentions' as intentioned. Did you distinguish? If you think the Spider-Man scene was bad, then you're probably one of those glass half empty kinda blokes who likes to piss on 'events' in their entirety without bothering to differentiate.

Or it's just more fun to gripe ... to each their own.

I thought the Spider-Man scene was over dramatic. Nice personal attack, though.

There's a difference between offering a reason to your responding to my post and contradicting my opinion by expressing you felt the scene 'over dramatic', an admittedly more intelligent and 'open to discussion' kind of response, then responding to my opinion saying 'it's all just bad'. Honestly? I'd rather someone leave me be than arrogantly contradict my opinion in a "you're wrong it's all bad" kind of comment that is completely meaningless to me, not to mention antagonistic in its own right.

Like your opinion somehow invalidates my own without bother to elaborate. So ya, I didn't like your two cents in the way they were proffered and clearly informed you of such. I have no problems entertaining difference of opinion, but not when slapped in the mouth with them without so much as a 'by your leave' let alone an elaboration as to the whys and wherefores.

When Cap's shield got destroyed during Fear Itself didn't they combine it with Uru (sp?) metal when they reforged it? That's the only reason I can think of it would survive a Phoenix blast

"Wolverine carrying Thor's prone body to safety while his healing factor struggles to keep up as Iron Fist takes notice that Thor's Phoenix fire coated body is burning him alive ... Wolverine gruffly replies "just keep moving"."

This just makes me think why they didn't just throw Wolverine and hulk at the phoenix. Obviously popularity is too strong for the PF.
