AVENGERS has had a lot of 'big' cosmic action lately but Jonathan Hickman is continuing to mix things up. With Mike Deodato on board handling the art, we're going to see the team head to another area we haven't really seen them before - Hong Kong.

The Avengers in civvies at a casino in HK? Sounds like it'd be an interesting read, at least.

Also, FIRST!

Looks good! Loving the book at the minute one of my favourite ongoings hope this continues to be good but I bet it will Mike Deodato's always good :D Looking forward to the Shang-Chi spotlight should be good.

Also Dustin Weaver has produced some fantastic covers I'll miss him on the series :( But LENIL YU! is going to be drawing it!

I'm a big Deodato fan -- I wonder how long he's hanging around for? Judging by how many artists the title's had already, likely not long. This seems to be Marvel's strategy for many of their Now books, a visual jarring strategy I'm not crazy about.

Carol must really love poker, she's played poker in so many issues in the last few years lol

I like Deodato art but he really needs to get Carol's hair down part I mean she lost the little faux hawk and has never had it other then on the covers of her own series.

There should be a Captain Marvel/Black Widow/Spider-woman book.

also that art is suuuuuuuuuuuperb.

@mucklefluga: Do you read Avengers Assemble? Since I started reading with #9, Spider-Woman's been quite important throughout, the last 2 issues were based around Black Widow, and #16-17 are part of a Captain Marvel crossover, and Black Widow and Spider-Woman seem to be involved.

I just realised you'll already know all of that if you do read it. What I'm basically trying to say is that it Assemble seems to be the best place to read Spider-Woman at the moment, I've seen more Black Widow focus in it than in Avengers, and outside of her own title, it seems to be the best place to read Captain Marvel.

Thought I should mention it. :)

@mucklefluga: No problem. The story is good, the current artist has had mixed reviews, but it looks like the new artist from #13 onwards is pretty good.

I LOVE that line-up!!!! But why is Carol wearing feudal Japanese garments when the story is set in Hong Kong?

#22 Posted by Chewish (38 posts) - - Show Bio

OH MY GOD YESSSS!!!! I love Hong Kong and the art in this book looks incredibke!!!

#23 Posted by V_Scarlotte_Rose (5550 posts) - - Show Bio

@queenfrost_: I'm confused by that too.

I can't work out what Jessica is supposed to be. A sailor?

That art looks amazing!!! The writing, though? Eh......Hickman just wasn't able to keep me interested.

#29 Edited by Novemberx2 (330 posts) - - Show Bio

looks amazing, this definatly the best MarvelNow title! without the Best Avengers book on sale.

Its shame is lagging behind in the sales. Uncanny Avengers has been so bland and delayed but is selling more.

Good grief!! That cover! Spider-Woman's costume is kinda 'Sailor Moon' esqe, and Carol has some sort of samurai outfit... this is too close to stereotyping.

#33 Posted by bsavelli (57 posts) - - Show Bio

the art is so beautiful I wanna die

#34 Posted by Green ankh (997 posts) - - Show Bio

Pass...what a lame line up ! And not to crazy for the art.

#35 Posted by The Stegman (20734 posts) - - Show Bio

So far I have been bored to tears with Avengers due to the cosmic stuff, which I'm not a fan of, the last couple issues have been improvements, so I'm interested in this new direction.

#36 Posted by jashro44 (16462 posts) - - Show Bio

So shang chi will actually have purpose on the avengers?

#37 Edited by nappystr8 (927 posts) - - Show Bio

While I like the idea of the cover a lot, it says Japan to me much more so than Hong Kong. Maybe it's just me.

Anyway, the interiors look stunning.

#38 Posted by Teerack (4549 posts) - - Show Bio

Omg is that a sailor fuku version of Spider-Woman's outfit?! xD so awesome!

#39 Edited by Zoch81 (223 posts) - - Show Bio

The art looks really good also love that love that cover.

No you're dead on. Those are more stereotypical Japanese apparel. Spider-woman's Seifuku, Captain Marvel's Samurai-esque armor and katana, Sunspot's got this ninja thing going on, Cannonball (I think?) has a Metal hero look and Black widow is all mecha/cyberpunk'd out. Only Shang-Chi seems to know what's up with his Bruce Lee look.

#41 Posted by That60sGuy (283 posts) - - Show Bio

What the hell's Bumblebee doing on the cover? :D

#42 Posted by Baberaham_Lincoln (896 posts) - - Show Bio

@broo1232: Wait, Yu is joining the art rotation?!?! or is he just replacing Weaver on covers? it'd be sick to see him on Avengers... i still remember his secret invasion stuff, that was nice.

#43 Posted by broo1232 (1520 posts) - - Show Bio

@baberaham_lincoln: Yu is doing the covers from issue #13 until I don't know when and will be the artist for issues 18-23 the Infinity tie-ins.

#48 Posted by Ultimate_QuickSilver1 (4 posts) - - Show Bio

Awesome! The art is amazing! to bad my mom doesn't give me a reasonable allowance! (Btw I'm 13 so yeah)

#49 Posted by Kerrigan (196 posts) - - Show Bio

Awesome cover and interior art.

But if there's "fun and games" in this issue it'll be a first for Hickman's Avengers (dull).
