@sinikettu: I loved ELFQUEST but got burnt out when there started getting to be so many spin off books and when the Pinis weren't working on them directly.

@g_man: I dropped the series for almost exact reasons.

@sasquatch888: I think it's fairly typical reception for an indie title. I believe the main reason for this book to never quite "making it big" was the fact that Pini's had little to no real interest in merchandising or really even marketing their characters beyond comics back when EQ was at the height of its popularity.

If it had been made to syndicate cartoon animation at the 80's-90s. I've no doubt it wouldn't have been a smash hit.

Rest assured, there are still lots of Elfquest fans out there (I'm one of them). The latest graphic novel hit the New York Times Bestseller list, Buzzfeed just listed it as the #1 Most Life-Changing Graphic Novel, and a new Kickstarter that launched this week to fund a series of three Elfquest art books hit its $25,000 goal in less than 48 hours (and is going on til Oct 1st).

I think a lot of Elfquest fans just aren't big readers of other comics and probably have never heard of ComicVine.

There's tons of discussion, debate and commentary on the Elfquest Facebook Fan Group page. People are dissecting and debating these teaser pages there.

Here are some links if anyone is curious about Elfquest:
