Exclusive Preview: BATWING #10

Batwing recently spent some time in Gotham City and even had to fight a Talon in the Night of the Owls crossover. He may have survived all that but it's not quite time to go home. Batman has another mission that will take him to China.

DC Comics has given us an exclusive preview for next week's BATWING #10.

Good...Batwing really needed to get out of Gotham. Hopefully the series will pick up a little now that Batwing can do his own thing rather than being forced into some tie-in.

Sweet. I've been enjoying Batwing a good deal. It was sad to see Ben Oliver go. He's an astonishing artist, but thankfully, Marcus To is doing a solid job.

I'm loving To's art waaaaaay more than Oliver's.

I HEAR YOU!!! His tie-in with Night of the Owls was particularly weak in my opinion.

It's funny that Batwing has better tech than Batman

I've found this series rather under whelming so far.. especially the first arc with Massacre and all that jazz, but the premise has bags of potential. This preview does look good though

I have picked up last issue, it's good I hope this is a good jumping issue

Batwing isn't that interesting to me and I bought only the issue with the NOTO tie-in but I think I will buy this issue,too.

so why does Bats not use the tech himself

Batman has used a number of high powered suits when necessary (see night of the owls 8 and 9; it's more gritty and steampunk-ish than Batwings but that's just the style of that snyder gave to the book, a different artist might have made it more polished and modern but with the same abilities). Batman is just more of a street level combatant than Batwing, who in africa has to deal with more than muggers and a few supervillains, probably dealing with armies, guerilla warfare, despots, genocide etc, so having more fire power makes sense. Plus the suits probably have a few downsides (if they get damaged enough, Batwing is probably a sitting duck) that Batman doesn't need to worry about with his level of abilities.

Marcus To's art is nice, but i really miss Ben Oliver and the tone he set for Batwing. It looks just like your average superhero book to me now, whereas before it had a very different, darker feel which seemed to suit Batwing more. Losing some interest in this title as it seems to be becoming watered down after the Massacre storyline.

IMO this has been one of the most consistantly good reads of the New 52 books. Winick is a great writer and while I do miss Ben Oliver's art Marcus To is a fine substitute what I find most interesting (if not a bit troubling) is how DC has managed to make a compelling series featuring an African character but failed to do so with their African-American characters (i.e. Static and Mister Terrific). I do think DC needs to cool it on the Batman guest appearances in this and other Bat-family books, to me they make the character appear as though he's not as capable of a crime fighter without poppa Batman coming in to check on him every so many issues.

why would you say that?

Well mavel have not been doing so well on BP, but i'm hoping they'll get a good writer that'll have BP focus more in Wakanda and Africa and general. But i just don't see Marvel doing that.

Really excited this issue

Batwing reminds me of Shadowhawk Maybe he was hanging out in the Wildstorm Universe when it merged with The OLD52DCU.

@spiderbat87: Batman does use tech... In "Night of the Owls" he was in a mecha battlesuit. He just doesn't use armor all the time. He's more of a ninja/stealth, while Batwing is more of a soldier/tech.
