For some of us, this is one of the moments we have been anxiously anticipating. Readers first saw the very beginnings of what might be a truly epic battle in NIGHTWING #13, and in the next issue of NIGHTWING we will finally see Dick Grayson face off in a fight against Lady Shiva. This might actually be a pretty important battle for Nightwing, since, these two characters have known one another since they were both very young (at least according to New 52 cannon). Maybe DC knows how much I like Lady Shiva, or perhaps this is a simple coincidence, but the publisher has given Comic Vine an exclusive look at NIGHTWING #14 written by Tom DeFalco due in stores on November 21st. Base don the four pages provided, what do you think of this fight? Is this a book you are looking forward to reading?

Why is Tom DeFalco writing instead of Higgins? He's a terrible writer.

#2 Posted by Zeeguy91 (1104 posts) - - Show Bio

@CircularLogic: Higgins is taking some time off to work on his "Death of the Family" tie-ins

#3 Posted by Jonny_Anonymous (33069 posts) - - Show Bio

I didn't know DeFalco was taking over from Higgins

#4 Posted by Fhiz (480 posts) - - Show Bio

@Jonny_Anonymous: he's not.

#5 Posted by kennybaese (1111 posts) - - Show Bio

@Jonny_Anonymous: He's only filling in for two issues so Higgins would have time to work on the DotF tie in issues.

I gotta say, Shiva's character design was always kind of boring, but this costume looks a little goofy. There are elements of it that I like, but the hair with the blades is a bit much.

for some reason nightwing looks a little like he's asian in these previews

#7 Posted by DDangelico (219 posts) - - Show Bio

Boy--that art is less than stellar. Dick looks like he's 16 and the Penguin's nose looks even stranger than usual.

#8 Posted by HexThis (898 posts) - - Show Bio

What is he doing out in daylight? This was an issue I had with the recent Huntress series, she was out during the day far too often. I don't think it works for certain heroes.

#9 Posted by Gotham's Dark Knight (28 posts) - - Show Bio

Not loving the art. Dick is looking like he's 15.

#10 Posted by KZR (487 posts) - - Show Bio

I am unimpressed. The art is meh.

I really enjoyed this book when it first started, but i lost total interest in this book.

Fill in issues circular logic

#13 Posted by Spideycap (212 posts) - - Show Bio

Nightwing is my favorite DC character, so yes I am very excited for this issue. Honestly though I am really looking even farther forward to the Joker tie-in. Really loving the new 52 take on Dick and cant really get enough.

#14 Posted by arnoldoaad (1007 posts) - - Show Bio

The art is really bad here

the Shiva design is just so ugly

#15 Posted by drreneninja (27 posts) - - Show Bio

@MadeinBangladesh: I couldn't have said it better myself. This series was good, but it fell off the rails after the Night of Owls. Something I don't mind skipping every month.

#16 Posted by ME24601 (118 posts) - - Show Bio

It's interesting to see someone in the Bat Family out in the day time in Gotham City...

#17 Posted by SmashBrawler (5645 posts) - - Show Bio

DeFalco writing this issue explains the horribly placed Nightwing logo in Dick's speech balloon. Hate that sh!t.

#18 Posted by MizariSeth (33 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't picking this, I wait until the next month number -.-

#19 Posted by namtabmi (99 posts) - - Show Bio

loving the cover

#20 Posted by carnivalofsins00 (938 posts) - - Show Bio

Thanks for the preview guys, really. Now I know not to pick up this issue.

#21 Posted by Miss_Garrick (1757 posts) - - Show Bio

I still prefer blue for the Nightwing look.

#22 Posted by cameron83 (7205 posts) - - Show Bio

WOW...I actually like shiva's look...

I don't think goofy makes sense when people go out at night dressed as a humanoid bat...Or when a soldier wears bright colors, etc

Oh,and RED NIGHTWING RULES!

just my opinion

Eh, Cassandra Cain already took her out twice.

And yeah, I agree Shiva's outfit looks kinda silly. But then, part of the New 52 seems to be bad outfits. Just look at what they did to poor Harley.

#25 Posted by Mbecks14 (2068 posts) - - Show Bio

Love the cover but Shiva's design is...ridiculous

#26 Posted by FoxxFireArt (3554 posts) - - Show Bio

Is that suppose to be Lady Shiva's hair with the blades on it? That's sort of a silly design choice. What if you were to fall down or get knocked into a wall? You could inadvertently stab yourself. Having a weapon on your body that you can't control is reckless. Hardly something a world class assassin would do.

Her design should be something closer to the Elite Guard of Talia in ARKHAM CITY.

Shiva kinda looks like a female Shredder here.

I have to admit I like the Nightwing Blue outfit better. But then I'm not sure I'm sold on New 52 Nightwing. I do get the book each month, but more because I'm hopeful this Dick Grayson will grow on me. I can buy pre-Flashpoint Nightwing going toe-to-toe with Lady Shiva, but new 52 Dick would have his but handed to him. Unless she is a pushover too.

I'll get this issue too, because Dick Grayson has ALWAYS been a favorite character of mine. New Teen Titans #1 was the first comic I remember buying from a shop, and taking care of. Dick Grayson was a great Robin and I loved the first Nightwing run (well most of it anyway). But the New 52 has gutted the character. The New Teen Titans never existed, Dicks relationship with Babs minimized to virtually nothing, and his time as Robin Truncated to a faction (4 Robins in such a small window). The last being the most puzzling of course. I mean apparently he is still a Millionaire (even though he much younger and has no job), Tight with Lucius Fox, and has he skills of the hero he was pre-Flashpoint (in a fraction of the time).

If I knew that the Joker and Shiva were both after me, I wouldn't wanna be running around Gotham at night either. Which reminds me. I'm calling it now: They fight, Nightwing wins only to get taken out by Joker or Batgirl.

Seems like this story is taking forever to develop. Other then that I kinda like the Shredder look as well as the art. My only concern is how New 52 Shiva compares to original Shiva. Is she gonna be a jobber? Or will she actually be on par with Batman in terms of martial arts prowess....

Not a fan of the art at all.

I think he'll put up a good fight but in the end, he'll lose. nightwing is great but he is nowhere near as experienced as lady shiva.

#33 Posted by RedheadedAtrocitus (6885 posts) - - Show Bio

How many times are they going to do the "Robin dies at Dawn" shtick? This is like the second or third time (in a way).

interesting...look forward to actually reading this...

#36 Posted by ganthetjr (2 posts) - - Show Bio

Guinaldo makes Dick look like an over-muscled ten-year-old.

#37 Posted by Perfect 10 (1020 posts) - - Show Bio

@DDangelico: i was thinking the same thing except i actually like the art lol. he just needs to make him look his age. but why are they still on this mortal kombat shiva concept? let it co DC. she is deadly with just her hands and hardly EVER uses any weapons. can we go back to that please?

#38 Posted by CatBoy (30 posts) - - Show Bio

@SmashBrawler: Amen. They did that in the Batgirl Annual. It's just cheesy and takes the reader out of the story. And who are they announcing their names to? We obviously know who they are. Annoying.

I want Eddy Barows back!

#40 Posted by TheDarkestNight (88 posts) - - Show Bio

Not liking Nightwing's hair.

#41 Posted by chocobojam (288 posts) - - Show Bio

So when we will see the new 52 Cassandra!?

#42 Posted by Crash_Recovery (850 posts) - - Show Bio

The Lady Shiva redesign really seems unnecessary. I liked Nightwing's old blue outfit, but I appreciate that the red brings him more in line with the color themes of the Bat family at this moment.

Shiva looked pretty good in her older outfits and now seems more generic. At first glance I actually thought she was a variant on one of the Court's Talons.

#43 Posted by Stormbox (2001 posts) - - Show Bio

Lol this looks lame

#44 Posted by zachkastner (188 posts) - - Show Bio

Sorry Nightwing but I'm out for this issue.

No Higgins, no Barrows, a crappy Shiva redesign and a lackluster issue 13. I'm just going to gear up for Death of the Family. I'll be back Dick, but not for this Shiva garbage.

#45 Posted by pingclang (265 posts) - - Show Bio

Shiva looks like she is wearing a bottom feeder fish on her head. Kinda dumb. I look forward to the issue but this feels like a 90's Image book to me as of late. I guess we'll see.

#46 Posted by OmgOmgWtfWtf (7029 posts) - - Show Bio

I have so many questions...Is Dick Asian now? He looks like my cousin. When did Lady Shiva rob Shredder of his costume? Why is she carrying ninja weapons, even though she's Chinese? Also why does she decide to fight Dick in BROAD DAYLIGHT? So many questions that need to be answered.

#47 Posted by Reignmaker (2235 posts) - - Show Bio

I really dig Nightwing as a character and I know his book sells ok. But I don't really see myself ever consistently following his solo book because I just don't feel like DC ever gives him the all-star talent Batman receives.

Oh well, will probably hop on for the Death of the Family tie-in.

#48 Posted by RedOwl_1 (1664 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks like something, not going to read it because it makes me lazy (When I get the comic I jump what I already read on previews XP)

The art isn't it's strong point..... but I read Teen Titans all the way with THAT art..... so I'm sure I can handle this :D

#49 Posted by ronzimmerman (4 posts) - - Show Bio

I love this art. don't know why everyone doesn't. it's a reboot. he's meant to be young again.

#50 Posted by DocFishstick (241 posts) - - Show Bio

Nightwing is my favorite and yeah the art is ok but can't wait to see whaat the joker has plan for him.
