We've been wondering about the identity of the mysterious woman said to be the 'Earth 2 Amazon' for quite a while now, and the latest preview of EARTH 2 finally reveals a bit more information regarding her identity as well as where Steppenwolf has been since the fall of 'the Wonders' back in the first few issues of this series.

The preview to EARTH 2 #8 reveals a Steppenwolf who appears never to have left earth. A terror to humanity that has been stuck on Earth 2 since the Boom Tube closed, taking refuge in a country that has closed its doors to International Law. In a brief monologue he reveals bits of information about the woman who has quickly become his second in command; a woman born on Earth to the "greatest warrior from Amazon Island" (HMM who could that be, we wonder?!) and one who has embraced the tutelage of Apokolips' warriors. Robinson's brief mention of the Amazon in the preview reminded us a little bit of Big Barda, which was nice to see. It will be interesting to see whether this character embraces Steppenwolf's ways, or if she will eventually turn on him and serve her home planet. You can check out the interview we did with James Robinson about this very issue not too long ago by going here. EARTH 2 #8 is set to hit store shelves on this coming Wednesday, January 9th.

Has to be her...I'll be shocked otherwise...

Might actually pick this up.

I don't like the art here. some of the faces look distorted. The normal artist returns in issue 9 wasn't it?

#7 Posted by takuy (18 posts) - - Show Bio

DC knows better, it would not be Donna. It's Hippolyta/Lyta aka Fury, the daughter of the Golden Age Wonder Woman - rebooted.

I really like this book. Every issue its fun to read these DC Heroes not shackled by long years of continuity. I know there was controversy because the JSA heroes were so classic but personally since I nver read much of JSA this book is a breath of fresh air for me. Every issue has been solid, I do hope Nicola Scott comes back. Robinson is killing it on this book.

If it's Big Barda I swear to Shazam, Odin, and Zeus that I will make it my life's mission to destroy Earth 2!!!!!!! They've already annihilated all of the Golden Age characters to the point that they are recognizable only by name, but they won't be ruining Jack Kirby's greatest creation on my watch!!!!!

#10 Posted by MrXakaRebel (12 posts) - - Show Bio

@takuy: They know better? Them trying to arbitrarily boil everything down to a 5 year timeline implies otherwise. Also I don't see anything inherentley wrong with them making this Donna Troy, actually seems pretty interesting to me. And it cleans up her otherwise ridiculously convoluted character history

#11 Posted by MadeinBangladesh (8091 posts) - - Show Bio

so she is earth 2's new wonder woman?

my feelings exactly!

As for the JSA i prefer them as actual heroes of an actual world than the shadows of their past selfs that they were pre 52!

I have read my fair shair of JSA stories so i can say that i get the people who doesn't like the change!

Looking forwards to this...and when James will get on the podcast and make fun of Sarah for not giving him 5/5 :)

It's good to see that Fury is still Diana's daughter, so i'm guessing she's Lyta then (or maybe has a new name).

#15 Posted by SavageDragon (2252 posts) - - Show Bio

@Squalleon: word man. Its a personal preference i know what you man. I pick this book up every month!

Only comic worth reading on paper.

I am glad Fury, daughter of Wonder Woman is back. Infinity Inc was an old favorite of mine. I am not really sure if the bald guy is Steppenwolf or Dan Didio.

I wouldn't mind if it were Donna but I'd be disappointed because it means, at least for a long while, she wouldn't be in the same universe as Nightwing and all them. Meaning they couldn't do some kind of crossover with her, Dick, Roy, garth, and wally. If the others ever get around to coming back themselves.....

#21 Posted by BR_Havoc (1340 posts) - - Show Bio

I do not think it will be Barda, I do think her first new 52 appearance might be in Wonder Woman. At least I hope I am a fan of Barda and Mister Miracle so I do not really want to see them be in earth 2 would rather have the new gods be in the main universe.

I hope it's not Barda!!! If it is then it'll be just one MORE reason for me to despise Earth 2!!!!!!

@broo1232: dude you should. its rather good.

i dont know much about the golden age of characters of dc and im a bit of a fan of the original ultimates run over on marvel, this is a great combo of both!

#24 Posted by GothamRed (2553 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm not sure I want this to be our new Donna, it's kind of against what I like about her from what I see here.

LOL yeah I am not feeling Earth 2 as well. I read the first 6 issues and they did not really do it for me only new designed character I liked was Hawkgirl and I thought the first battle with Grundy was not done well and was even slightly boring at times. Oh well I think I will give the second storyline a shot in a trade maybe it will pick up?

#26 Posted by MrMazz (1068 posts) - - Show Bio

I've fallen off in the past 2 or 3 issues but oooo i'll be bumping something off the list for this.

#27 Posted by StMichalofWilson (4119 posts) - - Show Bio

Oh god if that's Donna...

#28 Posted by LenSnart (321 posts) - - Show Bio

y is there any debate over who she is? it frickin' tells you who she is on the cover: 'The menace of http://www.comicvine.com/fury/29-10887/

#29 Posted by DarkerPhoenix (21 posts) - - Show Bio

ok this is def a rebooted hyppolyta trevor-hall. "a woman born on Earth to the 'greatest warrior from Amazon Island'" and "menace of fury" .... http://www.comicvine.com/lyta-hall/29-4906/

#30 Posted by MrXakaRebel (12 posts) - - Show Bio

@LenSnart: Lmao, not gonna lie I didn't even notice that, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if they decided to have Donna Troy be the New 52's Earth 2 Fury. You're probably right though, could just be Hypolita.

Apparently you didn't read any of the previous announcements of her being Fury.

#32 Posted by Perfect 10 (1243 posts) - - Show Bio

she looks like donna not fury/lyta. this is heart two and the new 52 so they could easily make donna the daughter of earth 2 wonder woman. if they could make hawkgirl hispanic and alan scott gay, why not make donna wonder woman's daughter instead of sister? not that big of a difference and her powers would stay the same since they are basically the same. either way i'm happy to see either character though im rooting for donna. hopefully this issue will tell us who she is.

#33 Posted by knighthood (1745 posts) - - Show Bio

No Scott except on the variant cover?!? No bueno.

#34 Posted by MrXakaRebel (12 posts) - - Show Bio

@Perfect 10: My thoughts exactly...

#35 Edited by RedheadedAtrocitus (6836 posts) - - Show Bio

@Fantasgasmic: Actually I did read that it is Fury, but unless we have actual proof that the Fury they are speaking of here is Helena Kosmatos, then we just simply don't know who it is for certain . By now it should be evident to anyone that DC's New 52 has used that 'five year rule' to change things up however they want. I'm just putting my opinion out there. Yeah, it says its Fury and I acknowledge that, but is it Kosmastos? Who knows? Wouldn't put it beyond DC to make Donna Troy into Fury for the New 52 here.

How can Steppenwolf be on Earth 2 when he was present during Darkseid's invasion in the first arc of Justice League? Unless Earth 2's invasion took place after the Justice League's origin.

#38 Posted by Mbecks14 (2029 posts) - - Show Bio

Fury. Calling it now.

#39 Posted by Afro_Warrior (1120 posts) - - Show Bio

@Mbecks14:

I don't think it really counts as calling it, when her name is written on the cover, haha.

#40 Posted by scuzz2.0 (273 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks like Sif in a sluttier costume.

#41 Posted by colonyofcells (2038 posts) - - Show Bio

It is supposed to look like an apokolips costume and it looks a little bit like one of the costumes of Big Barda who was originally working for Granny Goodness. Jack Kirby did both the new gods and the Thor characters so there would be many similarities.

this....wasn't it already freakin' stated to be fury, and now they still think its Donna....it is not f*cking Donna!

#43 Posted by cameron83 (7643 posts) - - Show Bio

And that's what they get for having side conversation anyway

#44 Posted by Catsnlynne (1060 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't care who she is. I just want Dr. Fate, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Starman to come.
#45 Posted by Or35ti (1101 posts) - - Show Bio

I really really really really hope that it's Donna; that'd be perfect.

#46 Posted by colonyofcells (2038 posts) - - Show Bio

Donna and Wally have no traditional connections to earth 2 and maybe they have versions in earth 9 or maybe later on they will get reboot versions in the main earth ? Red Tornado android started in earth 2 and it does look like Red Tornado is being used in earth 2 nowadays. I also hope that in the future, they will also have a main earth version of Red Tornado.

#47 Posted by COBRAMORPH (1646 posts) - - Show Bio

I always felt that they should have had Donna Troy become Fury once she out grew being called Wonder Girl, like how Dick became Nightwing.

#48 Edited by antuan (2 posts) - - Show Bio

I think she must be blonde as Lyta Hall. That will make it different from Donna, or Wonder Woman. Maybe the same costume but with blond hair, and his red locks, would have been more original. Keeping some of its classic look.

#49 Posted by FanofUltraman (153 posts) - - Show Bio

Relax, broseph. Change occures naturally over time. You can't keep something the same forever.

Maybe something like this
