Exclusive Cover Reveal: EARTH 2 #26 "Selfie" Variant by Kevin Maguire

Today is the day for cover reveals around here. Earlier we saw the Dave Johnson BATGIRL "selfie" variant. We also saw (regular) variants for SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #8 and BATMAN #34. DC decided to send another "selfie" variant our way to share with everyone. This one is by Kevin Maguire and features Alan Scott and Jay Garrick.

This "selfie" thing is kinda pissing me off. Not the fact that people do it,but the fact that DC is trying WAY too hard to come off as "hip" and "relatable" to a younger generation. But whatever....

I don't care for the theme, but that's pretty good artwork.

If they wanted to be accurate they should have had fire and brimstone in the background, since Earth 2 is in ruins at this time LOL

Is DC serious with this shit? Dumbing down the entire line to appease the grown adults who act like children is really upsetting me. Marvel already does a crap load of that.

This is a pretty bad cover. I've been enjoying some of these, but not this.

I cannot wait to see what the Red Hood and the Outlaws selfie is going to look like!

@ultron345: Duder, calm down. Just have fun; it's a fun concept and allows the artists to be a little creative or have fun with their characters. Oh, and watch the swearing.

It's a variant. Don't buy it and move on.

I have no idea why people are hating this, it's no more ridiculous than Marvel's "animal" covers they did a while back, personally I think they're hilarious. I'm buying them all.

I would rather have animals and chibis and polkadot fairies than one of the most stupid trends ever. I am so sick of people obsessing over their selves with their smart phones like the whole world really gives a damn about them. I've seen memes that are less cringe-worthy.

@nukea6: It's not even that serious, selfies are just people taking pictures of themselves instead of other people doing it, it's no more or less egotistical.

People complain about DC being too dark, now they want to complain when they do something a little fun. SMH.

I like the covers, they're different. I love the art of them and I like the fact that Green Lantern is using his ring to take the pic. A very comic book take on a modern trend. It's nice to see covers that aren't so serious at times and are just meant to be fun. And I love that The Flash is photobombing the pic (he obviously is as you can see the blur behind him and he just happens to get into the pic in time to pose). It shows that these heroes are regular people too. And if you don't like it, don't buy it. It could be worse and they could be taking the pic in a bathroom mirror. :P

On a different note,I think that people interpreted me saying "I hate how DC is trying to relate" into me saying "I hate when people do selifes"......yeah,that's not really what I said. At all......like anywhere near.

I have seen enough selfie addicts to know there is ego involved. To be honest, it's more Facebook addict but that doesn't make it less annoying.

Spiderman is one of the most popular heroes. He makes a living selling selfies. I don't see why other heroes can't take selfies too. We've been OK Spiderman doing it for so long. Don't see why others can't.

That's weird....I don't see him doing selfies often....especially not enough to "make a living selling selfies"....are we talking about the same character?

@twix_right_side: It's a joke. J. Jonah Jameson always wanted pictures of Spiderman and Peter Parker always happened to be the one giving him the Spiderman pictures. Spiderman was taking pictures of himself for the Daily Bugle.

As far as the Selfie variant theme, I have seen worse, like Marvel likes to slap Deadpool on all its titles, or the Wolverine and the Canada variants...those are pretty cheesy to me
