The first issue of DC Universe Presents will be available in stores on Wednesday, September 21st 2011, and to get fans interested in the upcoming release, DC Comics has given us an exclusive look at the first four pages of the issue. Following the events of Brightest Day, the first five issues of 'DC Universe Presents' will focus on Deadman, a character who was essential to the story line that led to major changes at DC Comics.

It's the start of a new series spotlighting some of the DC Universes's most exciting super heroes! First up is Deadman, straight from the pages of BRIGHTEST DAY, in a five-issue epic where the body-hopping hero meets his match in a new foe who wants to make sure the souls that Deadman helps out go straight to Hell!

The issue is written by Paul Jenkins with art by Bernard Chang. The cover to the first issue is by artist Ryan Sook. Did you enjoy Deadman's appearance in 'Brightest Day,' and will you be picking up the first issue of 'DC Universe Presents'?

Deadman's look always reminds me of a zombiefied pale Daredevil.

Aha! I knew Daredevil was Deadman all along!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess this and Animal Man will be the best books of the new 52.

I kinda like this, from my understanding it will be a anthology type book with different story arcs featuring different characters?

This would be a great way to cover a lot of heroes that would never get their own title.

DC Presents, Justice League, Justice League Dark and guest appearances in Hawk & Dove...who died and made Deadman the new Batman with this amount of coverage?

Is DC Universe Presents a Deadman-only book?

not a big deadman fan but i might buy this

This has confirmed my thoughts... I am definitely going to get this!

As Deadman fan, and wannabe writer, this preview proves that this arc will show Deadman in the way I pictured, and in a way that could show the comic medium in a different light to the general public, if it is successful.

The only problem is the art, in my opinion. I don't think that it's bad, but I think that's it's rather average and the book would fit a style more similar to Animal Man.....

That regardless, I'm no expert and I will be picking this up anyway....

Dude this looks SO awesome!

Simply wonderful! Wish I could get it though. Just so much of New 52 that I want but know I don't have the green to get. Maybe someday ::sighs::

Just a thought.... does this take on Deadman remind anyone else of Quantum Leap? (I understand that people have compared QL with the upcoming Deadman TV show, but that said...)

Looks like a winner to me!

Is it bad that I already want to find out who the next person is to star in this book and not really care about Deadman's story?

@Jordanstine: wow why is huntress with DD? what is this pic from?

I really dig Deadman. Still not sure anout picking this up.

I'm surprised that they let Deadman keep the collar. What is it with DC Circus performers rocking the large collar, Nightwing used to have it and Deadman always had it

hmm...looks intereesting...

This preview is the first time I've ever seen a Deadman feature and thought "interesting."

I like Bernard Chang's art

#29 Posted by the_nightwalker (155 posts) - - Show Bio

not amazed, i was reallyhoping for a great DM book that pushes the envelope but this is a very rudimentary story, i understand this is a relaunch but still

#30 Posted by cosmo111687 (1489 posts) - - Show Bio

@the_nightwalker: I see where you're coming from, however these are just the first four pages and so it's expected for them to cover the basic facts of Deadman before launching into the story. But I suggest that you should still give it a chance, or at least keep it in the back of your mind and check on it later, and then see if you still think that the story is rudimentary or if it would be something you'd be interested in following in the future.

@CBattles6: Couldn't agree more about Ryan Sook. He's amazing and this is by far one of the best covers of the relaunch.

That ramp on page 1, for a jump that long, is the whackiest vertical panel I have seen in 2011. A ramp that size looks like it would be for jumping Galactus, not a two-care high pile-up. He's a great artist, but obviously not an X-Games fan.

This might be good. I think I'll just pick it up.

Woah, Rama Kushna is looking quite like one helluva smexy djinn here!

(btw, noobs: I know Rama Kushna is a "fictive" indu goddess, I'm just saying she looks like a djinn)

#37 Posted by MartinNL (31 posts) - - Show Bio

@thechessclub: Well... ehm.... Let me think... I might even do that too :P

#38 Posted by TypH (390 posts) - - Show Bio

that cover image alone is enough for me to buy this one!
