Details on New MOCKINGBIRD Series Released

Back in September, Marvel announced an upcoming MOCKINGBIRD ongoing written by Chelsea Cain. That was all the details they had at the moment. Based on the success of the Mockingbird S.H.I.E.L.D. ANNIVERSARY issue, they knew they wanted to put out a series. Now we know who the artist will be and when it's coming out.

Today, Marvel is pleased to announce MOCKINGBIRD #1 – the new series from New York Times best-selling author Chelsea Cain and Marvel newcomer Kate Niemczyk!

Bobbi Morse. Codename: Mockingbird. Former Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most versatile, deadly, and in-demand agent. But a string of missions gone wrong point to something strange going on inside S.H.I.E.L.D.’s own medical and recovery network. The more she digs, the more widespread the conspiracy becomes. Is this going to be a proper espionage book like Velvet or Brubaker's Cap or is going to be a generic superhero book with a few Bond tropes?

Have always loved the character so I'm thrilled she's getting all this exposure, will definitely be picking this up.

And this costume design looks SOOOO much better than the one she's currently using in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' and the upcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' comic.

Why's that? I mean it's not like it'll have Clint in it or anything... :P

But in all seriousness I like Mockingbird glad she's getting her own ongoing.

Dude it's the same costume, only that this version is more detailed than in Amazing Spider-Man and S.H.I.E.L.D

Amazing that we have another female lead title. I don't mean that as a criticism because all that should matter is the quality of the content. When I first got into comics there were plenty of female characters but hardly any leading a title. She-Hulk was probably the only one at that time (1985/6) maybe Dazzler?

For a while now, I've felt Bobbi had been way under used, and i'm glad she's getting some popularity again. She's always been one of my favorites, who's not really a superhero, but more of a soldier/agent. Something like a Brubaker story would be awesome here.

Surely I will add this title to my pull list.

I honestly know nothing about this character, but I've been following the artist on DA so I'm gonna pick this up to support her. I'm easy to please, though, so I'll probably enjoy it.

Yes! Ever since her return during Secret Invasion, I have found her character really fascinating. McCann's "Hawkeye and Mockingbird" was one of my favorite books. Her later lack of presence in the Avengers books saddened me, but Palicki as Bobbi on "Agents of SHIELD" redeemed that. Now, with this book I am just so happy! I agree with @baddamdog , I did not like her costume in Amazing Spider-Man. The one for this book is awesome though!

Don't know much about her other than the odd appearance in events like secret invasion and obviously agents of shield. Does she have powers actual soldier serum powers?

I can see this series will get mocked anytime soon.

Marvel is really pushing the female titles.... i guess probably because they're trying to catch up with DC.

She was shot during New Avengers During the events of Fear Itself. While she was unconscious in the hospital Fury offered to give the the combo of Super Soldier and Infinity formula. After fear itself Marvel sort of dropped the ball on what had been happening to her since those events.

I'm not certain when she was replaced by a Skrull or when that Skrull died. But since it was revealed she had been replaced in Secret Invasion, she has been a regular in the second New Avengers series, then in the second Secret Avengers series, and I'm not sure where she has been since then, but at the end of that series she was seen meeting up with Bucky Barnes and Daisy Johnson.
