Captain America and Cyclops have a Staring Contest in AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #2

Marvel's been rolling out the teasers for AVENGERS VS. X-MEN. We've seen previews, covers and this week has been about single match up teasers. So far we've seen Red Hulk vs. Colossus and Luke Cage vs. Namor. Today we get to see Cyclops vs. Captain America.

I love Cap but I don't think it'd be a good idea to have a staring contest against Cyclops. Who do you think would win this fight?

You know, I'm starting to think that the X-Men won't get any badass lines...

Not liking how Romita drew Cyclops. The Visor just kills it for me. But I see a demotivational poster about Staring contests in the future. lol

Steve could probably take it...he's been doing what Cyclops has been doing since before Cyclops was born. Plus, he has the whole super soldier thing going for him. He ain't no rookie, yo. :P

I admit...when I found out that there was a possibility that there would be a legit invasion of Utopia by the Avengers, I became more intrigued. Two military leaders (one actual military, the other only pretends to be XD ) leading their forces. One to defend, one to attack.

That said, my expectations are never really realized...and I have this fear that'll it'll really be just this. One, 12 issue long, staring contest between the Avengers and the X-Men where they fight once or twice and then forced to team up to fight the bigger threat. Ya know, the classic comic book motif. Hope im wrong...but I also feel this event is just Marvel's excuse to throw the mutants back into the "Humans hate us" stage, which would be pretty drool...considering we've already gotten pretty past that, more or less.

Maybe that's just me.

Yeah, that's not tacky. What we should expect from that hack, Aaron though.

I can see Cap beating cyclops... but I really don't see how the avengers are going to beat the X-men... Bar Thor, the X-men have someone that can beat everyone of the avengers, and Im sure Hope could take out Thor if it came to it..

Well the only thing that marvel has accomplished with these teasers is that we know for sure the art will be terrible.

I read a preview of this series in the back of Punisher #9 last night and man does it look terrible. There's a couple of panels in there where Cap goes to talk to Wolverine and Wolverine is just chillin in the mansion sitting on a couch wearing his costume like that's just the sort of thing you wear to chill on the couch. Ridiculous.

FINALLY someone recognizes how horrible he is. He draws like a two year old.

Art is bad. You'd think they would unleash they're absolute best artists for this.

This whole event seems kind of hokey, but then so did Civil War, and I loved that series... but meh.

If the x-men don't win it'll just be total pis .

Damn finally we get a really intense line instead of some lame one like in the other teasers. Can't lie, i'm not too thrilled for the art but i'll wait to see how it looks as a whole :)

The xmen should dominate. Most avenger powerhouses are in space. They have strange, stark, thing and rulk. Assume the avengers are immune to tp and hope sits on the bench. Colossus takes rulk, namor takes thing, magneto takes stark. U can even add danger. Magik fights strange and she can get backup as others win. Storm can easily mop up the rest of the avengers. And that still leaves frost and summers plus all he new mutants, all the teen mutants and a few extras. I hope to god they have the avengers drop some bioweapon or spin tech because otherwise this will be other bs and the xmen just jobbing

My question is this, out of all the times the Phoenix Force has come to Earth, why are the Avengers just now getting involved? What makes this, the like 3000th time this has happened any different? I am at my breaking point with Marvel, and particular the Avengers after Bendis didn't realize it was time to call it quits and leave it be (especially Osborn, how many times can we read the same "Dark Avengers Return" story before it's been played out?). I will casually check over this event, but I don't have high hopes. Marvel needs to get their house in order before I will be spending any more money.

Ah, so I suppose that Cyclops was just pretending to be a military leader when he took down Norman Osborn while barely having to throw a punch while the rest of the hero community was in hiding? Please. I'll give Cap his due but even Steve has given credit where credit's due.

Pretty much. Ever notice that in any versus threads featuring Cykes that the main stipulation is that "oh, and Cyclops can't remove his visor." ? Total PiS.

Well, I'm not that big a fan, but I certainly don't think he should be burned in effigy like everyone else seems hellbent on doing.

I like Romita Jr.'s art, I don't like that visor but in general I like his style
