AVENGERS VS X-MEN Battles to Appear in Separate Book: AvX: VS

While we may have to wait until April for the first official issue of AVENGERS VS XMEN, Marvel is ensuring fans who are looking forward to the new series that they will have plenty to read this coming Spring. As you can probably imagine, AVENGERS VS X-MEN will feature some seriously huge battles -- many of which might not be able to be fleshed out within the pages of the upcoming limited series, which is why Marvel has opted to release an all new limited 6-issue series with rotating creating teams titled AvX VS. According to Marvel, this will be the only AVENGERS VS X-MEN off-shoot series.

The creative team that will craft the first issue of AvX VS #1 include Jason Aaron, Andy Kubert, Kathryn Immonen and Stuart Immonen. According to Marvel Vice President Tom Brevoort, this off-shoot will be action-packed and won't feature a whole lot of plot development.

What battles will we see featured in this tie in to the upcoming AVENGERS VS X-MEN series? The first two characters to go head-to-head in the first issue of AvX VS will be Iron Man vs. Magneto and Namor vs. The Thing. With Tony Stark's new tech, Magneto may not be able to fling him across a room; but he can still fling things at Tony Stark. And who doesn't want to see that? Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso discussed the fact that a lot of material had to be cut from the main AVENGERS VS X-MEN book, so Marvel had to find some way to show the fans what they wanted to see.

"There's a lot of story in AvX. There's plenty of fighting, but at the end of the day, there's always stuff that gets cut for space. Tom came up with the idea to do this book. No subtext, just fights. If people are going to debate who would win into the wee hours of the night, who are we to stop them?"

Marvel will even feature fights between Carol Danvers and Rogue, and even Squirrel Girl will take a break from babysitting to fight Pixie. What do you think? What battles do you want to see? Do you like the idea of having most of the battles that will launch in AVENGERS VS X-MEN will appear in a separate book?

The Avengers are using the team that will appear in the film apparently (adding Spider-Man)

Euuchhh. Part of the reason I stopped buying comics was not only the constant, endless crossover events, but the fact that you had to buy a miniseries just to read it instead of just seeing it in the regular titles. And now they're taking it to another level. Total garbage.

I know this is a gimmick and pointless and will probably be very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very badly written but I'm compelled to buy at least some of these issues anyway Magneto vs. Iornman that's defiantly on my pull list same with Pixie vs. squirrel Girl. This is pretty much guaranteed to be a pile of cr*p but gosh darn it it's my pile of cr*p. It's my duty as a comic fan to support this and other obvious piles of cr*p much like the new Spiderman movie...except that looks much worse

Hmmm, this is either gonna be hit or miss I think. Its either gonna be a masterpiece, or s#it. As for these initial battles...I'm gonna have to say Magneto just barely eeks a victory over Iron Man. Grimm's gonna clobber Namor. Danvers is gonna go all medieval on Anna. And Squirrel Girl's gonna beat Pixie. The matchup I wanna see? Simple. Cyclops vs. Captain America...with Wolverine as the referee. Lets get it on!

It sounds like it's just for fun, and that you won't need to buy it if you don't want to. Unless that's wrong (and I very well may be, I don't read much Marvel these days), I don't see why people are still complaining about it...

I know most people are skeptical, but I think this will be so cool! Two of Marvels best teams going head to head for real! It sounds over done, but i’m ready to see someone kick iron man and cyclops’ ass and I can’t think of anyone better to do it than the superheroes themselves.

at this point, i really can't stand the x men any more, whether it's Emma acting like a b*tch to everyone, Scott throwing around his weight like he's king kong, Wolverine and his ever changing sense of morality, or Namor...don't get me started on Namor, they all just seem like complete jerks, i'm backing the Avengers 100%
