Archaia Entertainment Sets a September 28 Release Date for Feeding Ground

Topical Graphic Novel Follows the Story of Illegal Immigrants on the Run from Vicious Werewolves

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA (September 27, 2011) - Award-winning graphic novel publisher, Archaia Entertainment has set a release date of September 28 for Feeding Ground, a stylistic horror graphic novel telling the story of a Mexican family chased by werewolves as they cross the Mexico-U.S. border. Debuting in both English and Spanish, Feeding Ground deals head on with the debate surrounding illegal immigration.

Feeding Ground (paper-over-board hardcover, 184 pp, $24.95, ISBN English Ed: 978-1-936393-02-2, ISBN Español Ed: 978-1-936393-12-1) begins with a new nightmare plaguing the Mexico-Arizona border. A famine caused by Blackwell Industries drives Diego Busqueda, a noble “coyote,” to lead his family across the unforgiving “Devil’s Highway,” a desert cursed with blistering days and deadly nights. However, an ancient evil that has plagued the region for generations has emerged from the shadows. Pitting real-world border politics against a boldly reimagined werewolf mythology, Feeding Ground questions the very nature of survival.

Written by noted film critic, Swifty Lang and author Chris Mangun (Born to Explore), Feeding Ground is a dramatic human drama heightened by the threat of unimaginable evil. A thoroughly researched graphic novel, Feeding Ground is unafraid to take an honest look at the controversy of illegal immigration.

The graphic novel is brought to life by acclaimed graphic designer, Michael Lapinski, who is acclaimed for his work on several Nickelodeon series and 4Kid’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Archaia Entertainment Sets a September 28 Release Date for The Grave Doug Freshley

The ‘Zombies Meets Cowboys’ Graphic Novel Follows the Undead Adventures of the Old West’s Most Decomposed Hero

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA (September 27, 2011) - Award-winning graphic novel publisher, Archaia Entertainment, has set a release date of September 28 for its ‘Old West meets the undead’ graphic novel, The Grave Doug Freshley. An innovative genre mix-up, The Grave Doug Freshley follows the newly zombified Doug Freshley on his mission to protect a young boy from notorious outlaws. It will be available in comic book shops and wherever books are sold.

Written by rising comic star, Josh Hechinger and illustrated by Marvin Mann (The Lone and Level Sands, Some New Kind of Slaughter and Inanna’s Tears), The Grave Doug Freshley (hardcover with dust jacket, 168 pp, $19.95, ISBN: 978-1-932386-70-7) follows Douglas Freshley, a former schoolmaster, who is hired by his longtime friend, Shane McNally to tutor their rambunctious son, Bat. But when the outlaw Delancey gang raids the McNally ranch, killing all the adults, it’s up to the corpse of Doug to rise up, protect Bat and exact some good ol’ frontier justice. Little does he know, however, that he is being stalked by the Deadliest Gun in the West (or anywhere)—the Grim Reaper himself.

Critically-acclaimed by readers since its digital publication on Graphicly, the hardcover version will feature high-quality artwork packaged in a vivid presentation, as well as pin-ups by Anthony Peruzzo, Jorge F. Muñoz, Scott Newman, Lea Hernandez and John Bivens. The Grave Doug Freshley follows Archaia’s successful history of adapting digital titles to print. Their previous title, Tumor, was released to wide praise after only being available online.
