AQUAMAN'S 'The Operative' Character Design Revealed - Comic Book Preview

The last few days we've been introduced to two members of "The Others," a group that will be revealed in AQUAMAN #7 as having some sort of a relationship to Arthur. First we saw Kahina, the 13th Seer and then we were introduced to Prisoner-Of-War and today we are given our first look at The Operative.

Designed by artist Joe Prado, The Operative will also appear in the seventh issue of Geoff Johns' AQUAMAN series as a man with ties to governments the world over. His resume includes experience working for the Mexican government, Russian Peacekeeping Forces, the Internal Security Organization of Uganda and more.

So how do all these organizations find him, hire him and trust him to keep their secrets? What do you think of the character design for The Operative? Are you looking forward to meeting all members of The Others in AQUAMAN?

looks like a G.I. Joe character....not terribly original, most likely won't be memorable either

Wow, a walking cliche right after a walking PSA. And weren't they supposed to be called 'The Other League'? The Others sounds so cliche.

Losing a little interest in this, Geoff Johns can do better than this.

Eh, this whole group is supposed to show up in the next issue of Aquaman, so it's not like they're giving away that much.

Aren't these recently revealed Aquaman characters supposed to be his old allies? I don't think they're villains.

So there's still two more to come (plus a panther)? I'm really liking them so far. I'm curious to know how all the gold artifacts relate too.

@Deranged Midget: Well then don't look at the previews? I'm in a similar boat as you, but these haven't been too bad. Plus all the designs are on the cover for the next issue, so all we're learning is their names and a general idea of why they are.

Agreed! DC loves spoiling things before they're released in their comics. I love DC hardcore, but this is one of my biggest issues with them. They love the media attention/fan-hype surrounding teasers that spoil important plot reveals that are more naturally built up in the story.

Neato! Now how about you guys focus on creating Awesome villains for Supes and Shazam!

Supeerman's villains have always been SUPER LAME. They're usually robots (Brainiac, Eradicator, Metallo, and the lamest character in "armor suit" Lex Luthor) and for some reason he has a difficult time ripping them apart? Does he not have "super" strength?

DC if you're starting fresh then get rid of Lex. Don't bring him back.
