Lots of big news coming out of Chicago from C2E2 this past weekend, and one of the most interesting pieces of news is that Thor and Loki have a sister, which will be explained in an Original Sin tie-in that will debut in July.

Angela, who recently came over to the Marvel universe, after the events of AGE OF ULTRON, is said character and this story will be told in ORIGINAL SIN: THOR AND LOKI: THE TENTH REALM #1-5, which is also ORIGINAL SIN #5.1-5.5. This mini-series will reveal the Tenth Realm, which she comes from, and revealing that Odin is her biological father: a father that hid her away by banishing her and her entire realm.

The book will be written by Jason Aaron and Al Ewing, with art from Simone Bianchi and Lee Garbet and will start in July 2014.

I love how Loki and Thor look exhausted, and Angela is looking smoking. This looks interesting.

I'm actually okay with this.

Better than turning The Thing into a murderer...

Maybe she'll get some Asgardian clothe out of the deal.

I actually think this could be a fun idea, If Angela was a half sister of Thor and Loki.

wow i dont even know what to say. i think its cool hes getting a sister but from the preview i saw i was half-expecting it to be Kelda or someone random (but from the Asgard side of MU). i cant say i ever expected it to be Angela.

ps. i wish theyd bring back Balder...

This seems kind of bizarre to me, and not necessarily in a good way. Though I'm not a Thor reader, so it won't affect me much.

Kind of worrying how potentially big the revelations in Original Sin could be.

I'm actually okay with it. I mean they OWN the rights to Angela now. Marvel BOUGHT the rights to Angela from Neil Gaiman, who was the only reason they had her in the first place. They are free to do something totally original with her origin.

After all she IS from another company and universe, with strong ties to Spawn and such. They need to rework her so her past isn't so tied to characters they have no rights to. They can't constantly allude to her past being one of fighting with Spawn and stuff which would only confuse people who either don't read or had never really CARED about Spawn.

It seems like maybe not the best idea to tie a character with such a notable history of legal disputes to an A-List character in such a way. I don't know the specifics of the deal Marvel and Gaiman made, but it seems premature to assume this wont be a nightmare for future licensing.

Interesting. They need to do an Origin story for Angela then, since she is the same look amd name, but clearly not the same character, she was at Image. She was an angel, now she's Asgardian. Unless Asgardians are angels now.

#29 Posted by sparty-dbq (849 posts) - - Show Bio

Not... quite sure how this makes any sense. I mean, it's not like Angela's entire backstory at Image is being wiped clean, is it?

Either way, I was hoping that her getting pulled from the GotG roster meant she was getting her own series. They paid good money for her rights, so they should probably make good use of it, right?

Wow, Odin just loves banishing his children doesn't he?

So Loki and Thor have a sister now...who once belonged to a different company and had a completely different origin and...

Even with a clean slate, I am just not feeling this idea.

#34 Posted by millennium (208 posts) - - Show Bio

so the new tenth realm is haven and odin banged a angel their then banished? the whole realm so no one would know?..................................................... hmmmmm sigh this is stupid i cant even find words right now

but Jason Aaron and Al Ewing are writing it and they been doing good work on thor and loki so maybe just maybe they can make this seem less stupid that what it all ready is

@heraldofganthet:

Everyone knows Zeus was the Greek God of Adultery.

Still this is stupid is just a bad attempt by Marvel to promote a lame Spawn character that no-one cared about when she was in Spawn and people still don't care about now she is part of Marvel

#38 Edited by Teerack (7431 posts) - - Show Bio

Marvel the house of BAD Ideas.

Angela is literally one of like 5 characters at Marvel who feels new and fresh. What does stapling her to the same old Asgard crap do other then hurt her when she was actually unique... This is as Disappointing as when They killed off all the Planet Hulk cast...

#39 Posted by IDontLikeBirds (424 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm not a fan of Thor, but started to become one with Thor: God of Thunder. Now....not so much. This is just too much. There's a certain saying that I don't want to say that get's over used a lot. Something about jumping....and a shark....

#40 Posted by Supreme_Maj (301 posts) - - Show Bio

When I saw it I thought it will be Valkyrie or Kelda because like Thor and Loki they are unique from the other Asgardians

Trying a little too hard to make Angela work.

i remember when reading classic thor and all that odin puts thor through... it's like marvel enjoys putting us through that kinda stuff too to teach us a lesson in humility

I always thought she looked Thorish...........I mean Asgardianish........ I mean oh forget it.

Anyway if she is part angel part asgardian then I don't like it. If she's full asgardian ok though I wish she wasn't Odin's daughter.

#46 Posted by SlamAdams (301 posts) - - Show Bio

I have little invested in the character so whatever they want to do with her is fine by me.

#47 Posted by XsPectre28 (739 posts) - - Show Bio

booooooo, this is destroying the whole concept...... so she is an asgardian that was turned into an angel...... im so lost and confused.

It's amazing how many people in Marvel have secret sibling....Iron Man....Spider-Man....now Thor. By amazing i mean reptitive.

@granitesoldier: Wasnt she always a female angel warrior? I always assumed she, & all of the Hot females Spawn faught, were based on Valkyries for the most part anyway.

The only thing I dont really like is this whole 10th realm thing. Thats kinda dumb, since Thor seems to be using some of the actual Norse myths. Unless this new realm is based on a realm from myths of another religion : Abrahamic, Hindu, Greek, Egyptian, etc that clearly has no paralell in the 9Norse Realms, then I'm not really in favor of it.

It seems like maybe not the best idea to tie a character with such a notable history of legal disputes to an A-List character in such a way. I don't know the specifics of the deal Marvel and Gaiman made, but it seems premature to assume this wont be a nightmare for future licensing.

Why? Disney can own Gaiman if it wants to. But I doubt they'd use her if they didnt have all that taken care of. & if it does cause problems, all they gotta do is recolor her & change her name, & bamph new character, which Odin's daughter already is, she'd just using Angela's name & appearance.

TBH I'd rather they NOT tie her into Thor as his sister. This is my constant complaint, do NOT tie a lesser known character to one of your top teirs. Angela should be her OWN character, with her own cast of supporting characters. Use the christian mythology & have her join the Avengers as a primary character, not a spin-off of Thor/Odin. Just as Thor is a superhero using Norse background & history, same with Marvel's Hercules, or Wonder Woman, just have Angela be a female using Abrahamic storys for her background.

But no, lets make her Thor's sister. Lets make an original female like Spoiler or Misfit into Robin#orBatgirl#infinity. Lets pointlessly tie Harper Roe into the alreadhy too crowded Bat-Verse.
