I got in contact with as many staff/engineers as I could starting a few minutes after it went off last night, nobody knows the cause yet but from Rorie and I testing we figured out that it is not broken for everyone, just people using certain ISPs. So far we know Cox and Verizon do not work, Comcast and T-Mobile do work, my guess is that a server somewhere in the route between point A (the user) and point B (the server where the search engine is) is broken or down, that would explain why it is just down for some ISPs. I'm not sure how the engineers would be able to fix that though as it would be something out of their control most likely. Until it is fixed though affected users won't be able to edit the wiki or search unless they use a proxy or VPN like I am now.

I think the engineers put in some rate-limiters on it; apparently someone was scripting some bad stuff via the search just to cause us trouble. I'd ping @edgework or @jslack if you stop getting results as part of normal activities.

The search function stopped working for me yesterday. If I'm logged out, it still works, but once I log in it stops working.

I was working on a list of 100 people, could the total number of my searches have triggered this?
