As the title suggests, people are getting IP banned and then unbanned.
It happened to me and it seems to have happened or is happening to many other users as well.

@cgoodness: Yes.
The problem was also reported in the general discussion in case either of the engineers tagged wanted to check

Either we're getting banned temporarily or someone is hacking our personal accounts. I have all my anti-virus software and firewall on. Still, I'm getting asked whether I'm a robot. It looked like my account was hacked.
Something similar just happened to me - the site thought there was abnormal activity on my network, so I had to verify I wasn't a bot.
@the_shogun: Good, it's not just me.
@xwraith: The odds are its neither our networks nor our accounts. Its probably something gone wrong with the site.
@the_shogun: It didn't do it for me when I was connected to a different network. I think it might be real.
@the_shogun: i belive one of the enginners mentioned what happened. Its the spam filter gone wrong.
Problem is comicvine needs a spam filter to sort everything and currently its clustered around ISP rather than individual IP.
So if someone who has a similar IP or lives near you turns out to be a spammer chances are your account can be banned.
Mods can evidently unlock it but its advised you directly contact the support staff.
@claymore1998: If that is the case it is so broad as to no longer be useful. There was a guy on the RPG forum who lives in Brazil and was hit. Pretty far from me. And then there is spam a couple of threads down on this very forum.
@the_shogun: ah but friend most spammers would use a VPN browsers that can change IPs. Who gets banned is based on whose services, spammers are using, at any given point.
@claymore1998: Which is my point.
@the_shogun: oh sorry i misunderstood. Yeah thats what seem to be happening.
To the best of my knoweledge the staff member who looks after this issues is edgework. Or you could tag a mod; while mods dont have the ability to fix it for us they can bump the reported fault to the top of the queue.
@claymore1998: pibb hasn't worked here in over a year.
