Can't Write a New Review

I'm not able to access the CMS to create a new review.

Not sure if this is a predicted downtime (didn't see any messages) or if it just my account.

I'm on PC, using the latest version of Chrome, but haven't seen this issue before.

I tried writing reviews for:

Silver Surfer (2014) #2

Guardians of the Galaxy Free Comic Book Day 2014

Rocket Raccoon Free Comic Book Day 2014

@overlander: if you are trying to add it from your profile I don't think that has worked for a while. Adding from the issues look to be working though.

@pikahyper: Thanks, I was trying to add it from the issue, directly.

And it keeps refreshing the page then giving me a message (in the green band at the top) saying, "You are not allowed to write a review"

...or something equally as witty.

@overlander: odd, ok I just tried something with your account, give it a shot again. Also please post a link to the specific issue you are trying to review, it might be an issue specific problem.

@pikahyper still not permitting me to create reviews.

Here's the Amazing Spider-Man issue I referenced above....

Guardians of the Galaxy Free Comic Book Day issue...

...and the Silver Surfer 2 too.

I've tried creating reviews for these and other issues, but only get a reload of the page and a brief green notification at the top that says, "You are not allowed to create a review."

I've successfully created reviews before from other issue pages, but this cropped up last week and I haven't been able to write any more.

@overlander: odd, unfortunately when something is legitimately broken there is nothing I can do as a mod so you'll have to wait for an engineer to chime in.

Let me see if @mrpibb might know what's causing that. I haven't seen that specific error code before.

we'll take a look on Tuesday, it looks like our accounts are able to post reviews so there's something wierd about the users.

what error message exactly are you seeing?

@mrpibb: I logged out, cleared my cache, restarted my browser and tried to create a review for Amazing Spider-Man 1, and got the same error: "You are not allowed to create a review."

:(

I tried in Chrome and IE on PC, but neither worked.

...and even IE8 at work (not that I expected success there).

@rorie & @mrpibb, when you guys get a chance, please let us know if there are any updates. I'm cool with "still working on it."

I know some problems are always easy to identify and sometimes take time to solve. No big deal.

hey all

we had a new release go out earlier today (sorry got a really bad cold so working remotely with the engineers), can you see if you're still having review issues? If so, then it's a bit more insidious of a bug then we're expecting.

@mrpibb: I just tried and I got the same thing once more. To be more specific [even though it's been mentioned before], I went to the page of the comic book I wanted to review, clicked on the "Add Review" button and get the page refreshed with a message popping up in green on the top saying "You are not allowed to create a review" that only lasts for a couple of seconds. @.@

@outsethero: Which browser are you using?

@mrpibb Is there any other details you need from us to help isolate the bug?

I still get the same error. I'm using the latest version of Chrome on PC.

I tried reviewing old issues (from 20-30 years ago) and I attempted to start a review on Trees #1

Unfortunately, I still get the same message: "You are not allowed to create a review"

@overlander: I'm using Opera on a Mac. Opera is based off of Chrome and is extremely similar, so seeing as how you're using that maybe that could be it? I could try using Safari or Firefox unless you've already tried other browsers yourself.

@outsethero hmm... that is pretty weird. I can't recreate that situation at the moment so we'll just call that a "valued new user" bonus for you.

@overlander i've found the problem that was causing you to not create a review and you should be able to create one with the next code push, which should be within the next few hours.

@outsethero ok, my bad, i just found out that new users can create 2 reviews during their first month. after the first month is over we release that hold. We have this in effect because we were having problems with spammers.
