How fast should Shazam be?

In the Pre-Crisis days, he was this fast:

The Marvel Family #61

And in Justice, he was faster than Superman.

Now it's the New-52, and his appearances will increase. But how fast should the character be? I've always thought being faster than Superman made sense, if he really has the speed of the fastest god, then it makes sense in my opinion.

I like the idea of him being faster than Superman

I wouldn't mind him being faster, but I think it's probably better if we just say he is equal to Superman all across the board. Otherwise, it just starts fights between the fans of both sides.

..Just bumped this as I feel he should be equal to Superman in speed and strength...I know the New 52 Billy is weaker, but in the older comics, Captain Marvel was at least equal to superman and with the advantage of magic had the edge if anything..

He should be congruent with Superman

I hate how new 52 Shazam seems to be weaker and slower than superman

@bobthened: I don't think it's that big a deal as long as his other abilities make up for it.

They are trying to make Superman the strongest of his type and I like it because it was stupid having Martian Manhunter, Mr Majestic, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman etc. As strongstrong and fast and durable as him and have their own abilities which over shadowed him.

As long as Shazam shows enough use in his abilities to stand toe to toe with Superman then it should be fine with the slight stat difference.

@tikhunt: I agree to a certain extent.... I am fine with characters like Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman etc. being slightly less powerful than superman. But Captain Marvel's thing is that he is always equal in power to superman. On the other hand he has only been around a few months, so possibly does not know his own powers yet, so I remain hopeful.

Faster than Superman, but not as fast as Flash.

@imagine_man15: In the book where Flash was running to save the earth but Superman was trying to catch him to save him (Vague and weird description I know) Superman failed to catch him, but Captain Marvel almost did. So i think its canon he is Superman superior in terms of flying speed. Still not as fast as Flash but you know, nobody is gonna take that crown away from him (for long).
