I've always wondered something about Midnighter. If his computer calculates all the different outcomes of the battle, does that include stuff like the enemy committing suicide or the building suddenly being blown up, or maybe a earthquake happening or something? Is it just related to the battle at hand, or does it take into account everything that could possible happen during the fight.

I'm gonna assume that tis is a normal battle no prep time allowed (like it would help) and I'll say Midnighter.

No, Batman can't beat Midnighter. And I think that pic is the real deal, which is very strange...that doesn't seem like a comment Batman would make.

Colt Python says:

"Power wise Batman shouldn't be able to beat the Midnighter. In fact he should have no chance what-so-ever.If DC\Wildstorm was actually going to make that a real match..Batman would find a way to stay in the game. And if Frank Miller was writing it Bats would definately win..nothing that guy writes makes sense anymore. He's totally ruining Batman and Jim Lee's good art."

I agree. Miller has messed up Batman's tone of dialogue in that comic.

Grifter was able to hold his own against Midnighter in their limited series. IF Batman lost, it wouldn't be easy.

Midnighter could have killed Grifter (again) in their fight but it's not like they'd allow Midnighter to kill Grifter (again) at the beginning of their limited series.

lol I love the (again)s. For Batman to have a chance in this, I think he would need to have considerable one sided prep time and the fight would have to start in the place Batman has already rigged. But if he had that, I think it's more than possible that he could win.

Great point Forever. I believe this goes back to the whole, taking a little extra time to set up the fight. Can Batman beat Midnighter? Yes, in certain circumstances he could. But if they say, just bump into each other one night an throw down, Batman is toast.

Unless he uses the Batman Factor

I don't think so. Grifters style if fighting is like Gambits, to unpredictable. I don't believe Midnighter could easily read he movements. His speed and strength would be deciding factor.

So what if he fights like Gambit to you? Doesn't mean a thing against Midnighter. Midnighter was created to read people's movements, even ones that seemed unpredictable to normal human beings.

I was thinking harder about this question and concluded that Batman could beat him.

Reason: Batman's intellect and Midnighter's arrogance. Midnighter has a habit of telling his opponents what he can do because he so secure inhis abilities. Batman is smart enough and experienced enough to take advantage of this. And I'm pretty sure he has something in his array of gadgets that could take him out. Midnighter may know how he may react in a fight but how would he know he would hit with a certain weapon if he doesn't know he carries it?

In a random encounter, Batman gets killed. With prep time, he could possibly win.

Everyone spoke but no one gave an expalnation as to why he wouldn't. Can't be based on power alone, cause Batman has beaten more powerful foes by exploiting weakness.
Unless everyone is saying that Midnighter doesn't have one.
And Batman is pretty much prepared for any encounter in my book. That belt of his can deal with a lot of different opponents.
It's not like this is a fist on fist fight.

Batman uses his anti-logic spray that hidden in his utility belt to win.
The same one he used when he beat Amazo and when some of you thought he could beat the Flash.

U r missing the point. I know Batman would lose in a H2H fight, but with the weapons in his belt, how could Midnighter no what he would do? Batman has no powers for him to read, so he could only read his fighting attack.

For example: Midnighter makes a point to announce his abilities (i feel it's a weakness of his character), so Batman would know what he is up against. SO Midnighter attacks, Batman goes into one of his stand still and hide what I'm doing under my cape stances and throws one of his freeze pellets.

Midnighter doesn't always anounce what he's going to do, he often just kills people with no explanation, so there's no promise that in a fight with Batman he'll give Bruce a chance to do anything. Even when he does say what he's going to do, he's still been able to kill people (superhumans) faster than they could do anything about it (or even see him move). He could kill Batman before he got a shot off. Even if he managed to though, Midnighter has dodged bullets at close range, there's no reason a thrown pellet would hit him unless he wanted it to. (Also, Midnighter's senses can detect movement and placement through walls, so an arm behind a cape would probably be visible to him.) And since you like Captain Atom Armageddon, in it CA says he's never seen anyone without powers (that would include Batman) move as fast as Midnighter. He was so fast that CA couldn't stop his attack on Grifter and could only watch as he died.

As I looked back at the first page (to find your comment) I saw mine and I realized that once again I'm referencing him killing Grifter.
