Merle wins. Rick was dangerous because of mentality, but he was no powerhouse. Merle has the skill, mentality and stats to beat Rick, as often as he likes. I honestly don't see him struggling greatly either, most of the time at least.

Damn...I didn't expect such a one-sided reception. It's still early so maybe someone will post a convincing argument for Rick.

I believe Rick has the better with weapons and with no morals he's somewhat more brutal, so i'll side with him - Merle's actual feats don't really compare either.

Rick, zero f*cks means zero chance for Merle. Not to mention Rick has been out in the dog-eat-dog world WAY longer, which automatically makes him more bad ass.

I'm going to go against the tide and say Rick wins. He's a lot smarter and bloodlusted he'll destroy Merle. His weapons have more reach and are more suited to a 1 hit KO/Kill. Not to mention his feats are a lot more impressive. Rick 7/10.

Merle should win he is more skilled he was beat by the governor because he was taken by surprise by walkers then governors men ambushed him, while rick got the drop on the governor both were injured but phil still had him beat.

Rick most likely. Merle is probably a slightly better fighter, but Rick is just plain crazy and will pull something completely left field and unexpected and pull it out, oh, say...like biting his jugular out.

Morals Off Rick was broken by Negan. He was never too skilled or superior to anyone in terms of stats. Just his d**khead attitude kept him alive.

I'm going to give it to Merle. Rick is great with a plan, better than most, but in a one-on-one fight, he loses almost every time to everyone.

Merle overpowered T-dog and Rick hand to hand on the roof top in season 1. Merle is physically stronger + faster and more skilled hand to hand, Rick does not have his gun here. With his Machete he has a slight advantage over Merles crowbar, not enough to prevent Merle from kicking his ass.
