zatanna doesnt need to speak if she doesnt want to she only does it as a homeage to her father
Zatanna vs Raven
Since there is no prep time, I am giving it to Raven in round on, because Zatanna is (as even Amazo knows) is limited to the fact that she has to speak before her spells takes effect and Raven does not. Zatanna does have better and more consistent feats of high levels of magical powers, but this is decided by Raven simply being faster on the draw.
Btw, for those who think Cyborg is a sure-fire way of putting Raven's soul-self down:
Animated however...well that seems to be more the other way around where Raven usually has to say her line to focus and Zatanna is inconsistent about having to speak to activate hers. Power wise however I would say Raven has better feats than Zatanna (with annihilating Trigon and remaking the world). So this could go either way again depending on if Zatanna has to say a long line backwards before an effect is produced or not.
(Honestly I don't think simply saying 'pots' is enough in either case, since it is a direction-less term that isn't specifying what Zatanna wants to stop, Raven? Or the car she just threw at her?)
I don't know why people overstimate Raven this way! She's not so powerful as they say: everything she has done in the most posted scans is something that every telepath or empath can easily do and she hasn't got enough strong magical powers to Fight against an expert magic user... If i'm not wrong Zatanna has also got some mental powers so I think that she can resist to some emotional based attacks enough long to cast some spell to kill Raven... Zatanna easily wins the first battle...
Raven for both. Comic book Raven is very unpredictable and would most likely pull a win. Animated Raven would stomp.Agreed
It think it all depends if Zattana is, or not, invulnerable/capable of defending herself against Raven's soul-self. Why is Raven using or not magic a freacking issue? Whatever she does, it does the trick! And Raven is that powerful She killed an army of demons in three seconds and it takes the entire Titans Team to take her down everytime they fight.

1.Zatanna - wins.
2. Raven - wins.
Have to agree with this....Zatanna is often underestimated. And for the Justice League Unlimited: @EpitomeofCool said:
There is only like 3 episodes with Zatanna in Justice League unlimited and you don't see her do much. Where as in Teen Titans Raven battles someone in almost EVERY episode. So I'll give Round two fight to Raven.
^ And for other reasons besides, but mostly this.
@Veitha:I dont dispute that Zatanna has more proven skill with her abilities, but I do dispute that she does have automated mental defences when it's not been shown anywhere that there are. She's forced J'onn back given time to push, but I read that as him already being in her head before being forced back out.
Roun 2 is easily ravens. Round one though, kinda tough. Ravens powerhouse but magic like zatanna. No joke. I think maybe still raven

"@.Mistress Redhead. said:Thanks for "helping." Keep up the "good work." @Velle Raven's powers are magic in origin but she doesn't use magic. She's like Alan Scott or Blue Devil. ""OR you could try rephrasing that so as not to sound like a complete......."
Alan scott is magic...... how does he not use magic, he's made of it? Blue Devil's trident of Lucifer allows him to banish demons to hell.......... that sounds like demonic magic............
Raven was raised in Azarath..... and in other instances she has shown magical abilities..... Raven gets her powers from being the daughter of Trigon, allowing her psychic and empathetic powers...... If her powers weren't related to magic and only empathy, why would Spectre's destruction of magic affect her? He wasn't destroying the universe's empathy...................
hun, she has no magic her powers are mystic.
No offense but it seems ppl are getting this whole power thing wrong. First of all, Raven isn't able to use raw magic. Her demonic heritage enables her to channel her father's power. Zatanna basically channels the same power but in its raw form which is more powerful. Zatanna can bend raw magic with her spells. However, since she isn't demonic, her magical connection is less natural compared to Raven's. DC hasn't disambiguated the extents to how much power each can conduct so we can assume it's a tie.
UNLESS: They get transported into the magical dimension where Zatanna has all the magic she needs at her disposal. Still, Raven can summon Trigon.
@magistrixes: Zatanna can summon Spectre
@storm-is-life: I left it out since I wasn't sure if that was the case all of the time... Thanks anyway.
@magistrixes: no problem

Not sure where you got this impression.
@magistrixes: Zatanna can summon Spectre
BS, it took nearly every active magician on Earth, including Zatanna, to do that in Infinite Crisis and all the Spectre did was kill a Star Sapphire and leave.
@outside_85: That was to give him power. Its not bs because she already did it.
@outside_85: That was to give him power. Its not bs because she already did it.
No, it was to summon him, because he had been missing for a year while Crispus Allen got his rear into gear.
@outside_85: Exactly, she was able to summon an extremely powerful being.
@outside_85: Exactly, she was able to summon an extremely powerful being.
No she was not and has never been, either that powerful or that stupid.
@storm-is-life: Thanks, and thats a load of bullshit, not that it makes Zatanna more powerful than any of those aside Deadman.
@outside_85: How in the world is it Bs. She summoned the spectre it's right there. And even without spectre she wins.

It's BS because it took her and a dozen other mages to summon him during Infinite Crisis, and besides that the spell is an undefined line: "Appear before me those who have fed too much."Thats not summoning anything specific, it's just casting a net and see what she pulls up, could be this group which has nothing to do with feeding, or it could be 4 fat blokes from the neast McDonalds. Also these are not servants she can bind to her will, she asks if they want to and if they say no she's stuffed. Not that Neron or Circe wouldn't kill her regardless for the affront of summoning her like that in the first place.
@outside_85: the reason you think its BS is because you think that comparing her infinite crisis self to a later version automatically makes her incapable which is where your wrong

Ok if you think your scan is from the post-Infinite Crisis era, then I dare you to post the cover of the issue your scan came from.
@outside_85: Don't have the cover but it was published in 2000
@outside_85: Don't have the cover but it was published in 2000
So 5 years before Infinite Crisis.
@outside_85:Is this what you are talking about?
