I'd be able to hide for that 5 days time and survive those 12 hours. I'd just lock myself in my room and point a gun at the door while I eat pizza and listen to some jams.
my family and i will survive. i live in a suburban middle class neighborhood in a common looking house that could easily be overlooked. we're also a hunting/gun family. we've all been trained in how to be safe and proficient with guns. we won't run out of ammunition and we won't run out of food. and with the five days notice we will have plenty of time to fortify and prepare. all of doors leading outside of our home, (front door, back door, laundry room door) are made out of solid steel with 2 deadbolts each.
I can't imagine having issues since I live at a college where I would assume we would all work together to stay safe at.I would probably,with a few friends get guns and lock our selves somewhere.Worse case I could go hide in Plethora of wood in Northern New England or just drive up to Canada where I assume the purge isn't happening.

That's optimizism at its finest. A person is usually smart and sensible individually, groups of people are scared, rash, paranoid and begin to panick quickly. A college would be a slaughter zone.
Hmm..I'l probably survive.. I'm not in a big city and not many of my neighbors are psychos. But the manager of where I live has a shotgun, so yeah, I'l be fine.
@nerdork: Well at my college there's somewhere around 10,000 people not counting alumni.Half of which are at a completely separate area thats basically a hospital.That reduces the amount of people to 5,000,even then the area I live in only has about 1,000 people in it.Assuming other people know that the purge is happening,a large amount of people most likely are going to go to a friends or parents house to wait it over.This all dramatically reduces the number of people that I have to worry about.
This is only if I planned on staying at the college and considering the options, my best bet would probably be just to drive over to Canada.Unless they have it going on as well,though IIRC the trailer was being specific about it being in America.
The local population drops significantly every year on that day. At the same time, I acquire a great deal of money from the upper-class citizens in the area. And I prepare for next year. And the next. And the next.
Since me and the Wife own Guns, shoot them all the time, and have Dogs, I think we can make the twelve hours. There be a lot less punks on the street after that.
The problem becomes that it's from like 6pm-6am, hours when people are usually sleeping. So it becomes hard to monitor what's going on. I could just stay up all night, considering more than likely something like this would be held on a Friday or Saturday night. But still, I would have to pretty much stand at the edge of my door all night with a gun or something, and that would get aggravating, real quick. Also, no matter where you live, or the people you "think" you know, something is always going to happen. I think I would probably go on vacation that weekend, out of the United States, where the "Purge" is happening. I'd probably visit Switzerland, where everything is neutral. For other people who couldn't do that, I recommend you lock up as if it were a Zombie apocalypse, because, for the next 12-hours, that's what it kind of is.
This would be more interesting if particular ppl were hunting you ... aka can you suvive the purge w/ your co - workers / class mates / colleagues/ neighbors / locals ... trying to purge you.
As is I'd survive as my house is set up great and w/ guns i got a room w/ no windows, fully underground, alternator, etc.
If someone was actually trying to purge me ... might be a different story.
We have a rest house up in the mountains. so were safe. just buy lots of potato chips,bring your girlfriend and your safe for the night. In our country the purge seems like a normal day to us.
Dig 1 hold to hide in, i would like to dig traps but that'll cause to much attention. Most likely the Purge will be in major cities because people wouldn't want to waste their day on underpopulated zones.
I'll try to fight a few people off if they comes for me. I probably would only bunker with my family since its possible for your friends to betray you.
I'd put on my green one piece, get a large knife, put this on loop for 6 hours, and watch the hours tick by. In the event someone does come after me, well, they're in a for a treat.
I would go get some medium kevlar and a couple desert eagles from the gun store, get 2 machetes, a combat knife and a grenade launcher. I would be walking around on the streets looking for crimes happening, if i see some innocent getting tortured i be like ''Hands up motherf!ckers if you wanna live'' then i shoot these criminals in there asses and say ''Anyone can take a life. Giving life is true power, true power you will never live long to see'' Pulls up the desert eagle from the hinges and shoot them all to the throat.
