Which organized crime group wins?
The Japanese "Mafia"
VS
Chinese "Mafia"
Yakuza VS Triads
" Yakuza. Japanese in general are perfectionist. They are more skilled and do what they do best. "Yeah, and the last time the Yakuza went to China.... *Caugh* click *caugh*.... It wasn't too pretty....

" Triads been around way longer than the Yakuza, more experience. Triads all the way. "The Yakuza are decedent Ronin Samurai united into an organization. If you count their ancestory, they've been around just as long as the Triad. Let's see, the Traid has been around ever since the Ming Dynasty, but Samuari has been around before Genghis Khan took over China.. And Kubai established the Yuan Dynasty.... So that's like a good 100 years apart.
True. Triads started as rebels against Manchurians in China back in the Ming Dynasty. That was around 1400s to 1600s. Yakuzas trace their lineage to the warring clans of the edo period. That was around 1600s to 1800s. But I don't think that matters today. Duration of existence does not equate to being more powerful." Triads been around way longer than the Yakuza, more experience. Triads all the way. "
@ssejllenrad: True, longevity of an organization doesn't equate power, and its most likely that both would probably be just as deadly. One thing I might wish to include however is the dating you mentioned. Now while it is true that they originated officially as anti-Manchu rebels, many of those rebels indeed were bandits that may very well have been members of an even earlier secret group known as the White Lotus Society, who had opposed the Mongol-centered Yuan Dynastic rule in China before the initiation of the Ming Empire. Now while its never been proven that the two groups were ever officially linked to one another, I'm inclined to believe that due to their similar philosophies that maybe some descendants of the former became leaders of the latter group. After all, what was the main thing that drove their push to violence? Xenophobia. First it was anti-Mongol occupation. Then it was anti-Manchu sentiment. And what of the 19th century groups such as the Tong and the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists? These tended to be groups born out of anti-foreigner sentiment as well.
But then again... In relations to the Triad and Yakuza. Both were pretty much established around the same time. If you count the White Lotus Society and the event that happened when the Yuan Dynasty tried to take over Japan, you can see that the Yakuza and Traid were around at roughly the same times.
The Triads now cause they know the in's and out's of Yakuza after having so many of them doing subcontracting work for the Yakuza for decades, it's like the Blood's and Crips or any other breakaway group that has existed with the experience and ex members/ people who have put in work, they would know all the drug routes to take over and who to hit etc. etc. where as you never hear of too many Yakuza doing work for the Triads to the same extent.
The Yakuza still probably better organised, disciplined, arguably richer still and more influential in Japanese Politics than the Triads would be in Chinese politics though imo.
Triads are more of a street gang than an organized gang. Yakuka earns honorable mention up there with the best of them: Russian Mob, Irish & Italian Mob, some Mexican Cartels & some Biker gangs. And yes, most biker gangs are small time (but bad) but there are a few Biker Gangs with enough pull & connections to earn the same acknowledgments. ,
Most of you have no idea what you're talking about. It would be very rare for these two crime organizations to clash. As for which one is more powerful, it depends on the location. The triads are strongest in Hong Kong. They don't operate in mainland China and are mostly in Hong Kong, Macau and other Chinese diaspora. Unlike their portrayal in movies, Triads are very low key, even by organized crime standards.
The Yakuza are extremely powerful in Japan. They hold a lot of political power as well as control the black market there. Their power has waned in the past few years but they're still a force to be reckoned with.
The triads have more reach internationally as there is a larger Chinese diaspora than a Japanese one. However, their power in countries outside of China is limited to Chinese neighborhoods. So in short, Triads have a longer reach internationally than the Yakuza, but the Yakuza hold more power in their home country.
