In theory it's not that hard, actually. He goes for the drop, you lean to the outside missing the knee entirely. On the way down, you pick the ankle/back of the calve, roll through, get to your vertical base or go for the grapevine, and it's all over but the crying at that point.

Punk is no slouch, but Kurt in his prime defeated the Rock, Undertaker, and Brock Lesnar. All of which Punk fought weaker versions of, and still lost.

Despite Bryan admitting Dean Malenko could take him to school despite Malenko being in his 50's? Guys like Malenko, Regal, Benoit, Guerrero, Angle and Hart (both Bret and Owen) are all above Bryan in terms of technical ability.

Bryan hasn't done anything, in-universe, kayfabe or otherwise, that makes him better technically than Angle. His motor was the best thing about him, while Angle is excellent all round.

Seriously though, Bryan breaks his neck and is out for almost a year. Kurt Angle broke his neck and won a Gold Medal. :P
