Learning Martial arts isn't the only way to prove you have skill and the reason Thor's technique is rarely shown is because he caries the hammer.
That is how you are shown to be a top tier martial artist in comics, by having a vast amount of martial knowledge. It is why writers constantly shove it down out throats that Batman knows 127 martial arts. James has been trained in 18 forms of Kung Fu by his Master Po, mastered kenjutsu, aikido, buijuitsu, and ninjutsu from Ogun, trained under Stick (Who taught Daredevil ninjutsu), been military trained, and has multiple bios noting that he has mastered every martial art there is to man. Thor has shown no such knowledge of martial arts. You can show technique with a weapon. Wolverine has six claws and he shows precision technique with them, Thor simply shows no technique with his weapon. He simply tries to smash things with it until they don't get up. Look at his recent fight with Thanos. After he hit him with a lightning bolt, he proceeded to try punch him out with his hammer like usual.
As of right now, Wolverine hits harder (admantium) and has greater durability so it will be hard to take him down not harm, I don't know whether his Berserker mode cancels his skill but lets say its still intact. Thor still has speed advantage, the faster you punch, the harder the impact, Thor will continuously punch Wolverine with great force at his head until he drops while his hands heal in the process - Thor can be doing this for days due to his stamina, but it wont last that long.
Wolverine has shown that he can use his skill while berserk like in fights with Mister X. Thor has a speed advantage here? Is that why he already admitted that Wolverine is faster than him? Why won't a few punches from a 2 tonner who knocks out 2,000 lbs. bears unconscious with two punches leave Thor unconscious without his superhuman durability?
