Then of course there is Starkiller- but there has been speculation that the Force Unleashed is not Canon.
However Ben Skywalker (the son of Luke Skywalker) is starting to grow into one of the more powerful Jedi in Star Wars. Even surpassing his own father in certain areas.
But the strongest ever is still Chewbacca, he'll kick all your butts while hauling 3PO on his back like a sack of potatos.

Luke's Force potential was not only greater than Palpatine's, but so are his feats. They are the two most powerful characters (unless we were talking about Legacy era Luke, in which case, he would be on a lower tier, because Denning and co. can never figure out how powerful they want Luke to be).

In the Galaxy of Fear series, Palpatine was named the most powerful being who ever existed up to his time, and his feats substantiate that. Luke's Force potential was not only greater than Palpatine's, but so are his feats. They are the two most powerful characters (unless we were talking about Legacy era Luke, in which case, he would be on a lower tier, because Denning and co. can never figure out how powerful they want Luke to be).
