Black Manta really shouldn't be a physical threat to Aquaman.

This needs to be settled.

The type of threat at Black Manta represents to Aquaman is not an "in your face, fist to fist" kind of threat. Black Manta does use his suit to keep up, yes. But he never stays to fight Aquaman longer than he needs to. His tactics revolve around misdirection and only doing what is necessary.

Black Manta knows damn well Aquaman is stronger than him. But he doesn't always intend to go for fight victories. That's not the kind of rivalry they have.

Considering that Black Manta(unless there's another character of the same name) doesn't have any powers...

Aquaman has more raw power by a country mile.

Black Manta is dangerous to Aquaman in the same way Batman is dangerous to Superman. It's his skills, gadgets and intelligence rather than physical strengh that make him deadly.

Black Manta is to Aquaman what Joker is to Batman. Or Lex is to Superman. Not a physical threat, but he makes it up with his brain.

Aquaman. Black Manta poses no raw physical threat. He need his suit to compete, which makes it not raw.

But your opponent doesn't have to be stronger than you to beat you.

@thanatic: Yes. Millions of times more powerful. Black Manta's weapons are specially made to fight against Aquaman. And even then they wouldn't hold out in a long lasting fight.
