Because it's the right answer. Inside the DC Universe Superman and Batman are the two most prominent and respected figures, inside the Marvel Universe, that honor goes to Stark and Steve.I want to say Ironman and Captain America.
but I'm not sure why.

Good Choice, glad you chosen Iron Man.

The 1st instinct is mostly right...

Thor and Iron Man are good too.....

This. But the team up can be substituted with a few different characters. Thor and Iron Man would achieve the same effect with Thor taking point in the power category. Marvel's 2 greatest aren't defined as strictly as it is in DC and for that I'm highly appreciative.
Meh, I don't know about Thor, to me, he's the "Wonder Woman" of Marvels "Trinity" When it comes to public respect and admiration, I'd say Batman and Superman are it in DC, as for Marvel. Tony has helped people both as Iron Man and Tony Stark with his money, he's one of the major faces of the Avengers, and gets respect, and obviously Captain America has proven himself time and time again to be loved by the people. Also, these two find themselves in the center of many of Marvels biggest events, heck, they were the two that kept Civil War running.@The Stegman said:

No no, what I meant is that these two are the supposed "World's Finest" of Marvel but it isn't as clearly defined as it is in DC. If you ask anyone who the 2 greatest powers in DC are you'll hear Batman and Superman. Bar none. With Marvel it gets tricky. You can have it range from Cap and Iron Man to Thor to Spider Man to Wolverine to Cyclops to any number of characters. It's more based on opinion than anything with Marvel.

an Anti-Hero?
OP say "the world finest" not "the world finest heroes", and Warlock isn't an anti-hero, nor Thanos who stopped being a villain.

The OP was looking for something along the lines of what the world's finest represent in DC comics. Cosmic is much less important than Earth.
To me Marvel's trinity is as follows:
Cap = Supes
IM = Bats
Thor = WW
So Cap/IM would be the "World's Finest."
Ohhh, Okay, I got ya, my mistake.@The Stegman said:

@Shawnbaby: I would say it's a combination of both star power and a history together, Wolverine and Spidey are the 2 biggest Marvel characters but there history together doesn't seem that important for either character.
I say Tony and Cap are the closest thing to Marvel's World's Finest.
Depends what you mean by "Worlds Finest" if you're talking character-wise my gut would be these 2 as few embody Marvel better than them:
If you're talking about power-set wise then these two more closely resemble Batman and Superman:

Well...like I say...It all comes down to how you define "World's Finest". The OP seems to Define it as the combination of Muscle and Brains. Which would make Thor and Iron Man the most obvious parallel.
But you can also go more by more of a Personality Equivalence rather than Power/Skill. In which case Tony and Steve would work fine. Steve has the same inspirational quality Superman does...While Tony and Bruce have always kind of been opposite sides of the same coin.
I go by more of a Flagship Character perspective. I mean...that's the original reason DC started "World's Finest" anyway. Which is why I pick Wolvie and Spidey. It's not quite so common now but during the 90's..whenever Marvel wanted to boost sales and interest of a particular title...they would have Wolverine or Spidey (sometimes both) guest star. Now, they just put Wolverine and Spidey on every team they can think of.
I don't think any of these answers are wrong really. It's really just a matter of how you look at it. Marvel doesn't really have a "Trinity" the way DC does.
As far as star power, it's Wolverine and Spiderman, worlds above everyone else
But for personalities, Captain America is basically Superman. Leave no man behind, losing is not an option, ultimate sacrificer type of guy.
This really doesn't work for Marvel, because DC literally builds from the top down. Batman and Superman get the best stories and writers, then Wonder Woman, and on down. Marvel likes to rotate top dog. Some years Hulk shines, some it's Daredevil. I remember when Sentry was the hottest name in Marvel comics. I don't think you'll ever get a right answer for Marvel's World's Finest.
But if you're asking who are LITERALLY the World's Finest, referring to demeanor and public perception.... Captain America would be one, followed by probably Iron Man. Not a lot of Marvel guys are 'celebrity heroes'. They're mostly shunned heroes like Hulk, Daredevil, and Spider-man.
My first instinct was Spider-Man and Wolverine, but I actually think Cap and Iron Man to be good choices.
