What's the general consensus on Superman vs Cap. Atom?

I'm sure this has been done before, but I'm reading captain atom new 52 and I'm thinking without PIS, CIS, or writer walking he should pose beyond a serious threat to Kal.

What's the general consensus on Superman vs Cap. Atom?

So new 52 cap atom? He's thanos level and would trash Kal.

Even pre new 52 has beaten Hal Jordan and majestic.

@i_like_swords: well its cuz the writers MAKE Superman win cuz he is the golden boy so to speak. When you look at Caps powers and apply logic to Kal powers he should by all accounts be far more of a match for him than any of Superman rogues.

@ironshinobi88: people say that, but there's very few instances o superman actually beating people insanely above his realm. The worst one I can think of is beating Darkseid, but Darkseid pre-52 was mostly a jobber anyways.

I doubt Superman has any more plot armor than any other high popularity DC character, he probably has less than some *cough cough*batman*cough cough*

Atom should win. He has easily one of the greatest powersets in all of comicdom. But as you mentioned, Clark would win in a comic book. Thats all there is to it, if they fought, Supes would show the advantage, maybe deliver the line, "You could potentially beat me," and then theyd stop and be besties. Supes would win most battles in comics, and its because of his iconic status.

@dratini1331: Oh by all means i agree with you on batman's plot armor. However there where times when he beat DD, Darkseid, METALLO and a few others i cant think of.

Captain Atom's powerset seems to logically be perfect for defeating Supes. There isn't really much reason for Superman to ever beat Captain Atom actually.

@doctor_fate500: Eh, DD shouldn't be higher than Supes, and Metallo should be able to be dealt with honestly. Like I said, Darkseid is the only real time Supes has shown to beat people he really shouldn't be beating, but n52 has fixed that pretty well I'd say.

why is beating Metallo so hard to believe? He fought a weaker DD without holding back but he died afterwards.

Captain Atom stomps Superman. Nothing against Supes, just hard core fact. Talking about New 52 version though, I don't know too much about pre-52 except that he was also a boss. :)
