This is not related to @k4tzm4n awesome battle of the week articles. If you haven't checked out this week's dodgeball match, stop reading this and do so now! - CV:BotW.
This is for normal battles in the battle forum, for those who strive for their threads to be as detailed as those that @k4tzm4n features every week. This is an idea I've had for a while that would recognize Viners who put some creativity and planning into their battle threads.
How it would work...
At the start of the week, a new thread would be created for nominations. In this thread, Viners can nominate themselves or others with links to the battle threads that they think are worthy of being called the best of the week. At the end of the week, a single battle thread will be chosen, and featured as best Viner created battle of the week. A new thread will be made that has a link to the battle, and reasons why this battle was chosen as best. It will also contain links to honorable mention battles that were also considered.
What makes the best battle?
- The battle must follow the Battles Rules (which means it must feature a comic book character). Here's a link to the rules, although I'm sure you've all read them by now. *nudge, nudge*.
- Use interesting characters. We've seen enough Superman, Hulk, Thor, and Batman threads for multiple lifetimes. Try mixing it up with characters outside of DC and Marvel. Battles can still be the best with well known characters, but they can be much more interesting when we get to learn about new characters while they battle each other. Provide information such as feats or a link to follow for Viners to learn more about these characters.
- Organization. Take your time to organize your thread. CV features tools to make this pretty easy. Take some time and learn how to use them. Use pictures, use headers, use proper grammar and spelling.
- Be creative. You don't have to do Character A vs Character B every time. Take a look at this thread made by @the_red_viper. - Two Strategic Leaders He put a lot of work into this. There's a lot of factors and variables in this match, but he organized and balanced it very well so it's easy to read. Sometimes simple can be better, but a complex thread like this is a nice change of pace.
What do you think?
I'd love to start doing this if it's allowed by the mods, and if there is a positive response to the idea. Please give helpful suggestions, if you like the idea. If you dislike the idea, please speak up too and give a reason why you don't. Any and all criticisms are appreciated!
