New 52 Jordan vs. the epitome of awesome, the Vic Viper from the Gradius series, specifically the SNES version of Gradius III.
Vic Viper has 4 options, E. Laser, small spread, and is minimized. It can adjust it's speed at will, or stop altogether, if it desires, or go up to exactly light speed.
Hal is also slightly afraid of images and data of Bacterian that the ship broadcast to Jordan in an attempt to explain what it's mission was, but the ship inadvertently fired on Jordan, causing no damage, but causing him to engage the ship as if it were hostile.
They start 1 AU (astronomical unit) apart, in completely empty space.
Win by death.
