Who takes it?

Gaara will win because he can fly and if he gets of the ground Toph wont be able to do anything.

Toph isnt fast enough for Gaara.

Toph can't see with or bend sand. Gaara wins.

@AweSam: Well actually Toph had been practicing her Sand bending befor the series was over so she can bend it a little but No where near to Gaara's extent

@TAneT62: That's not entirly true Gaara can and has shown the ability to crush the grain in rocks to turn them into sand. Add that to the fact that his manipulation is a bit better than hers and the fact he can fly theres no way sh can win. His Sand reacts on its on so Toph couldnt predict his movements as he doesnt have to move to attack

But he doesn't exactly "bend" earth like toph does ... in the desert of course he wins, he has all the sand he desires at his will. But somewhere it's just earth toph has a serious chance at winning. And how exactly does he have better manipulation than toph? ... I don't know nothing about him so i could be wrong.

He doesnt have to bend the Earth like she does, his Sand reacts on its on to his thoughs and feels and his manipulation of the Earth is a couple of years above hers. In a fight where he didnt have any sand or ran out of it he ground the grains in th area up to make some. Basically his Strength is her weakness and her strength only serves to make him stronger not to say that she wont put up one heck of a fight

The one tailed beast. It is a large creature made of chakra that resides inside Gaara enabling Gaara to control sand. When released from its restraint, not only does it control sand but it can also control winds and redirect it at very powerful forms. Just like the drilling air bullet.

Why would you make this thread, did you watch Avatar: the last air bender? Toph in the desert could not bend properly, she also could not see, and had to be lead through the desert. Which was one of the reasons Oppa was stolen.

You put her in the desert with someone who even without jinchūriki powers can manipulate all sand on a better scale than she has ever used earth. this is complete spite.

under the OP rules, it's no way that Toph could pull off a win. She would effectively need a plot of Earth to bend to even stand a chance, but Gaara could easily just bring the sand down on her. Stepping on sand essential blinds her, because the vibrations can't be read like she can with the earth. She has stated that.

Im assuming Gaara doesnt have Shukaku since that would make this battle silly.To everyone who says Toph cant sand bend and cant see i recommend watching the the pheonix king episode again.During their beach party she said that she could see Aang sand sculpture and then proceded to create a miniature Ba Sing Se
 
So going by the fact that Toph can see and can manipulate sand and further more can get through Garas defences since she can manipulate them as well as he can i think she takes it

Gaara, Toph has improved in sand bending, but not to the level that Gaara is at, even without Shukaku, he seems to be able to control it effortlessly,

Gaara's been more creative and diverse with his control of sand.

So far he's shown he can: levitate by creating a floating platform, form a sand dummy of himself, create decent durability armor with his sand and create more sand through attrition of the ground. He also doesn't need to gesture at all when using his abilities. In the first video he blocked of explosions that are the size of buildings.

Toph has the advantage of being able to feel the ground through vibrations, Gaara cannot feel the inside of his sand. But sand is harder to sense vibrations in because it shifts so much, and Toph doesn't have metal in the desert either.

Also, Toph's control of sand as far as I recall was making a mini Ba Sing Se. Gaara was able to harness a significantly greater volume, enough to cover the sand village.

Toph could speed blitz with rock spires shooting up out of the ground, but otherwise she loses.
