FYI: On Jashro's thread I argued that Batman could beat Toph and seemingly won ^_^

Batman could probably use knockout gas to win.

Care to prove it?

Perhaps, if that's in his standard gear. Other than I'd say he could use his superior physicals, but hey, that's just me.

I'd say Toph can get the Incap. win, by trapping him in stone. There's nowhere to run or hide on that field at such a close distance, and Toph's got pretty good sensory.

If Bats can get close though, he may be able to take it, but I think that's probably too much for him to try.

I honestly think toph can pull it off..

Eh, brick shattering. But not busting stones with his head. However, he's broken guns, jail bars, handcuffs, and ripped steel.

I can't tell if you were being sarcastic about Batman winning, or it being a mismatch in either's favor.

Toph I think. He couldn't hide from her because of her seismic sense and most of his gadgets could be knocked away with Metalbending. He could try to get up close, but it'd be hard with Toph slinging boulders at him. Now I know he's dodged faster things, but the boulders Toph typically uses are much bigger than the run of the mill bullets Bruce dodges. Plus she could do something like, throw a boulder at him then turn the ground below him around, causing him to get hit in the back.

It'd be a good fight though.

My bet is Batman, he is too fast to get hit by flying rocks, especially since he routinely dodges bullets.

What is it with all these Toph threads lately? Anyway, Toph simply makes Batman sink into the ground and traps him. Or can make a suit out of rock that Batman can't penetrate. Bats may be amazing but Batman is not going to be able to stop Toph from doing this. Plus they are at ruins MADE OUT OF ROCK! Batman can't take a step anywhere that Toph doesn't control. He can't try to sneak around her, seismic senses counter that. Even if Batman had prep he would lose. He can't just make a "Anti-Bender spray."

@frisky4: @joewell: answer this for me, has there EVER been an example of Toph metal bending from afar? All I have seen is her punch through doors or rip open steel cages and stuff, always something she is touching.

@cable_extreme: It apparently has occurred in the comics, I had this concern as well.

@nightway: The reason for all the Toh threads is this- Death Battle (ScrewAttack) created Toph vs Gaara, which on Comicvine is considered a mismatch of epic proportions, as Gaara has manipulated a city's worth of sand, yet they gave Toph the win as one of the creators preferred Toph. Due to this, there is a running joke that Toph is now massively powerful, even though she would most likely be defeated by Batman.

@jacthripper: how many times? Often? There has been instances where Tophs enemies haves swords, but I never see her bend them out of thier hands like people are trying to argue here.

Anyway, I still don't see a way Batman will win.

toph is 1 of my favorite avatar characters and a skilled bender but imho i see batman winning more times than losing.

@cable_extreme: in the show she could only bend metal she was touching, but in the comics about events after the show she has remote metal bending. However, metals that are highly refined can't be bent, so she might not be able to bend Batman's weapons

As for the fight, could go either way. In character, Toph's not gonna instantly trap him in stone or anything like that. Most earthbenders don't do that in the first place, and its usually on fodder much slower and weaker than Batman when they do. However, Batman is most likely not gonna instantly go all out on a 12 year old girl. If Batman jumps and throws something, like knockout gas, Toph most likely won't sense it coming.

@cable_extreme: She did it once in the airship in the finale and a couple times in the comics. Even the fodder metalbenders of LoK do it all the time, and Toph is definatly better than them.

She could do something like I said in my post. When he goes to dogde she could shift the ground he is on, causing him to be unable to do so.

@joewell: shifting ground is one thing, however, I haven't seen her bend metal or disarm people from afar as a consistent tactics she uses. I don't see people in legend of Korra disarming people from afar either.

@joewell: how could she deflect weapons coming at her? They are metal and don't necisarily fly in straight lines. Look at the bataarang that has been thrown like a frisby. Batman has ziplines and stuff to make him extreamly moble and actually be invisible to Toph who requires her opponent to stay grounded.

The ultimate paradox: can Batman with prep dodge boulders????!!!!

Don't see Batman losing to Toph.

@cable_extreme: I assume you meant they are not metal, to which I ask for proof. I personally don't know, so it'd be nice if you could show me where it's stated Batman's gear aren't made of metal. And he can never be 100% invisible to her unless he is both off the ground and is carrying absolutely no metal on him, otherwise Toph could sense it.

@cable_extreme: I don't see ziplines working against Toph. Because her sense relies on vibrations. A zipline, being wire create alot of vibrations. Additionally, the impact that the zipline latches onto would help give away his location.

Another interesting thing. Aside from knockout gas, Batman has no real gear(standard) that would give Toph trouble. Flash Bangs are worthless, Toph can create earthen walls to block any of batmans batarangs or do what she did against those arrows fired at her, or (potentially) bend them so their trajectories get screwed up.
