Haven't seen the second movie but Toothless held his own against a whispering Death a dragon that was collapsing entire mountains.
That's pretty impressive.
@awesomekill15: Whispering Death in a different dragon from Dragon Rider: Defenders of Berk, cartoon, which is canon to How To Train your dragon movies.

@awesomedude: Any reason why?
@awesomekill15: Better everything except speed but the speed difference isn't really that big.
Anyone else's opinon? Could Toothless beat Ash's Charizard?
Ok now you're speaking my language. Ash's charizard has more feats than just wild ones.
Here he blits passed Dragonite after dragonite already was flying and charizard was still on the ground.
now here this drill tank was able to fully burrow through the ground in under 4 seconds in the anime. I don't have the scan of it burrowing all the way but I can prove it later. Anyways charizard crushes the drill of it with one stomp.
Dragonite has gone mach+ speeds in the anime before but charizard can keep up which still isn't as fast as as fast as toothless but close enough to where there isn't a huge gap imo.
The drill tank feat has got to put his durability/strength above toothless.
But ttoothless has charizard beat in projectile attack speed I believe.

dang had no idea ash's charzard kept up with a dragonite going mach speed,hmmm.....well this is much closer than i originally thought
I'm also going for him but he needed the other dragons to weaken him first.
(I just watched this with my family a few hours ago so I have the best memory here.)
They were aimed at the big face so it's not impossible that some of them can hit it.
Toothless just might take this (50/50).. given that he keeps his distance..
SPOILERS..
One thing to note is that Toothless doesn't breath "just fire", he breathes what seems to be like an HE Round/Grenade..
The fire's secondary only to blast/impact of concentrated flame..
Also, he can produce immense heat from the rest of his body as seen in the 2nd movie after being encased in ice, he produced blue flames all over his body that shattered it..
His agility and speed also seem to be fairly higher than Charizard's, and if you keep track of his turning and evading feats, I'd put his reaction time at the same or higher level..
Toothless' downside is that he can't mano-y-mano with the Zard, so he's gonna have to keep his distance..
If you know what I mean
Toothless beating the alpha is damn impressive. I still haven't seen the movie yet but that's impressive if he really did.

Charizard does have dragon breathe that creates a concentrated beam of green breathe so it increases charizards attack range.
Towards the later episodes charizard his body temp hot enough to where ice beams from articuno had no effect.
But I do agree toothless speed/agility edges out charizard a little bit.
Charizard has clinched up with 30+ tonners since blastoise was shown holding back and pushing moving tanks in the sand. So strength wise charizard is above toothless.
This really is a tough match. Charizard has withstood point blank explosions before though so even if toothless unloads them charizard will still be able to stay in the game long enough to catch him with an attack. So I still give this to charizard 6 out 10 times.
well .. toothless broke a tusk of the alfa... and in the end the alfa ran after getting intimidated by toothless ... and toothless looked damn scary with his body scales displaying the color of his neon blue flame

just watched the movie. Pretty cool. Liked it alot. As for the match. I still give it to charizard alothough toothless was impressive charizard has durability feats that outclass the dragons. I mean i noticed humans would fight the dragons with swords and axes in the movie and weapons like that are in the pokemon world are obsolete to a majority of all pokemon. Charizard has been in explosions that he seeminly didnt even react to. Deepending on if toothless can overwhealm charizard with speed and his attacks he may have a chance. But given charizard was fast enough to pass dragonite who has flown at jet speeds before in the anime he isnt that outclassed in speed. So once charizard hits toothless a few times its going to be over. Charizard will have to work for a win but he still pulls out. 6 out of 10 times.
Charizard would snap his neck
How is this even a question? Toothless was able to easily defeat a Monstrous Nightmare, which is pretty much like Charizard, and he managed to defeat not one but two huge enemy dragons nearly the size of a mountain. He's faster, smarter, has stronger attack (plasma not fire) and more experience at fighting other dragons. Plus Charizard is far too reliant on his wings, and we know from the first movie Toothless knows to go for the wings.
Also are we forgetting that pokemon can breathe fire directly into a human's face and it does absolutely nothing, yet Toothless could melt straight through an entire building with a plasma blast? I like Pokemon as much as the next pokemon, but Toothless clearly has the advantage here. If he can take down the Red Death and the Bewilderbeast, he can take down Charizard.
Toothless! Night Fury speed and maneuverability plus plasma blasts strong enough to knock down the Red Death? Yes please.
Still charizard. He crushed the drill on a drill tank with his foot casually. Charizard could have psychically broken the trunk of the alpha with his bare hands with feats to crush a tank like it was nothing.
@those_eyes: Toothless is the special sweeper Charizard dreams to be. The real dragon speedblitz the fat lizard. Only PIS will allow Charizard to challenge and even defeat Legendaries and Pseudo-Legendaries.

How is that pis? Charizard consistently got better throughout the anime like pokemon are supposed to. Its not like he pulled some pikachu crap. Charizard is fairly consistent.

Game Mechanic-wise, a Mega Charizard is quite potentially a sweeper, if played right.

True.
@budcharles: first welcome to the vine :)
Second, you are underestimating charizard quite a bit. Those_eyes postes aome good fts for charizard that puts him at least at toothless level if not above.
