Am going with zuko here, but this battle is closer than what people thinks.
Tonraq vs Zuko
@johnfrank120: @nighthunder: @gizmorino: any reasons?
@thunderbolt30: any reasons?
@arcus: More and better feats.
@primebonnick: why not? @johnfrank120: more feats doesn't always guarantee a win? Any particular ones you think were better?
@arcus: honestly when he found out what his brother did i expected more from him, but alas i guess the plot got in the way and man unalaq seem like the better bender.
@primebonnick: well yeah, I mean Unalaq is probably one of the best water benders we've seen, able to fight evenly with a fully realized Avatar and all
@deathhero61: why do you think that? Both rounds?
Round 1 goes to zuko without much trouble.
Round 2 Goes to zuko but with mid-difficulty. Ice bending wasn't an issue for zuko, his fight against an amped katara in book 1 proves this.
He kinda got wrecked by Katara, only "beating" her because she let her guard down
@arcus: He effortlessly escaped her ice prison. And did the same with her ice wall. Katara was only able to keep him down briefly. And if i recall the last shot she made at zuko at the attempt to end the fight, zuko was paying her no mind. And was attempting to grab aang. So its pretty much even that both parties got distracted and had their guard down.
He also couldn't land a hit on her until she had her back turned and thought he was beaten. Zuko was trying to get past her, but I wouldn't say he was paying her no mind
@arcus: Him paying her no mind is literally no different from Katara doing the same when she thought he was beaten. They both had their guard down. Zuko at that split second had his mind focused on aang otherwise he would have turned back to attack katara as soon as he saw her attack him which he clearly wasn't paying attention to otherwise he wouldn't have got hit.
Except Zuko knew the fight was still ongoing, I don't think he's stupid enough to just completely forget about Katara being there. Katara thought the fight was done.
@arcus: He clearly had his guard down then if he knew the fight was still on going, just like katara did when she thought otherwise. Because why would he bother trying to grab aang if he didn't have his guard down?
@deathhero61: because his goal was to get Aang and leave. Not like Katara wasn't able to hit him earlier
@firelordxmako: don't mess with Tonraq's daughter
Zuko soundly. Tonraq never did anything to put him on par with Zuko. He has 2 fights with Zaheer(one was inconclusive and the other he lost despite having help) and one with unalaq(where he soundly lost). Doing well against inferior benders to Zuko isn't enough to actually beat him.
@aressword: you think Zaheer and Unalaq are inferior to Zuko? I'd disagree
@arcus: Lol guess Tonraq was a little off his game when he was fighting Zaheer with Korra's help. Zuko could've done better.
@firelordxmako: you mean when he lost to Zaheer with a limited amount of water and help from a chained Korra? I'd favor Zaheer over Zuko
@arcus: Chained Korra did more damage just hopping around and drop kicking... Tonraq was losing to Zaheer at the north pole surrounded by water. Lol book 1 Zuko at north pole was more of a threat!
@firelordxmako: not really...
He got tagged once, recovered, and when we saw them again they were even
Look, I realize you've got a thing for firebenders, but S1 Zuko was by no means more of a threat
@arcus: Just saying Zuko handled Katara pretty well.
@firelordxmako: you mean he got frozen and only managed to take her because she let her guard down, and then got one-shotted by her later. Yeah, that's handling her real well

You really cant say anything because they were fighting at night,freezing cold, surrounded by water. Katara only one shooted him when he was weak in a blizzard!
@firelordxmako: exactly, he didn't handle her
@arcus: Oh I meant that he still held his own before she froze him to a wall.
Starting distance is 15 feet. Victory by ko
Round 1:
Fight takes place in the Crystal Catacombs at twilight
Round 2:
Fight takes place in the North Pole at twilight
Who will win?
Round 1: Zuko with high difficulty. There is a decent amount of water in the Crystal Catacombs. Still, Zuko's swords give him a nice edge in close quarters and added cutting power with his long range firebending. Whoever slips up first loses, rather than an outright overpower or out skill between these two.
Round 2: Tonraq with mid-high difficulty. Tonraq's element is basically everywhere, even right under Zuko's feet! He can go balls to the wall crazy with waterbending and not have to worry about it being dispersed or exhausted. Zuko with his swords puts up a good fight, but I see him getting whittled down in the end.
R1: Zuko has every single advantage and it's not a close call on anything except for maybe versatility, but Tonraq isn't all that fluid with waterbending anyway.
R2: Zuko wins with mid-high dif. Tonraq has ice ramps now, and firebending is weakened in the North Pole so it's close, but still not enough I don't think.
EDIT: And that's an awesome pic in post #94/
