I already watched animal face-off, and the outcomes were almost always arbitrary. They had the lion's mane deflect the attack, but when they simulated a tiger's jaws and a lion's mane, the teeth went through it like a hot knife through butter. Tigers are larger, more athletic, more deadly. In fact, a long time ago they had a show, back when it was okay to show animal deathmatches. They found the biggest, baddest lion they could possibly find and had him wtfpwning all kinds of different animals. Then they got a tiger, who flew out of his cage and owned the lion so hard it was awful to watch. Again, this was an average tiger against the biggest baddest lion, with experience as a pit fighter.

Are you sure that isn't the Lynx? I know they have special fangs for crushing bone, they're one of the only cats that hunt by simply kicking ass instead of stalking. They kill like, deer and stuff, at their small size. They're built insanely sturdily as well.

I'm leaning towards the Tiger, considering that it's the biggest of all the big cats and more powerful.

Wow, I did not know that. And I thought hyenas were impressive with their 1000 psi. Still, lynxes are at least second place for the reasons I stated. They also, obviously, have freakin' huge paws for their size which means harder slaps.

Another thing to think about is that female lions do most of the hunting for their pride, tigers hunt alone. Lions have 3in fangs and the tiger has 4in fangs. Male lions are around 375-496 lbs (males), average male tigers are around 579 pounds. Your average female lion does weigh the same or more than a female tiger. In the end, lions hunt in prides and tigers go solo. Tigers have more experience alone to give them victory in a 1v1 with a lion.

There is only one thing here with relevance. This was good, but you only thing you brought up that is on point with this is the lions mane. I can post plenty of instances where lions get killed by prey they hunt lol, these are just instances that happen in life but does not mean (example) "buffalo's kill lions so lions aren't good predators". You down played the tigers, but did not show any of the lions weaknesses. The biggest downfall with lions is that they live in prides. I could counter your "How can the male tiger be a match for a lion, when female tigers dominate the males, and 60 pound leopards kill full grown male bengal tigers caught straight from the wild?" with "How do you expect me to believe a pack type of animal could beat a solitary animal in a 1v1 match?".

These are all legit people/groups with more than fair credentials to make these statements. That wiki excerpt has solid references to these statements. Tigers do weigh more than lions, I don't know one knowledgeable biologist who would try to state different. You are only providing biased info and trying to cover that fallacy as facts in order to attempt to make it seem valid. All your information seems to come from allempires which is far from credible.

Also, Lions manes have been disputed in the sense of its use to be defensive. That was a obscure theory of darwins via thought of evolution. It's been downed by multiple scientists and biologists.

It makes some difference what kind of tiger you're talking about. Lions vary in size somewhat throughout Africa but the average is about 400 lbs. It is not as long as a tiger but stands taller at the shoulder. Bengal tigers average about 480 lbs and Siberian tigers average about 540 lbs.

Lions and tigers don't know martial arts, but they do have fighting skills. An older and more experienced lion can often defeat a younger and stronger challenger with the skills it has picked up through fighting experience.

A male tiger will have more experience killing large prey. Tigers are solitary hunters and have to kill any prey themselves. Lions are communal hunters with the male lions using their roars to drive prey toward the lionesses, who are usually the ones who do the killing. On the other hand, lions are more familiar with fighting other big cats. Since they live in groups, male lions have to fight for dominance on a fairly regular basis while this is rare for tigers.

Tigers are stronger than lions, have more massive forelegs and paws and a higher bite force. The lion's mane is good protection against blows to the head and throat bites. It's not a perfect defense by any means, though, only a slight edge.

I dunno who wins. I'd guess the Siberian tiger will overpower a lion but it's fairly even between the Bengal and the lion.

-The lions mane is a big advantage.

-Tigers are quicker in movement and faster but weaker in strikeing.

-Lions are slightly heavier on average, much taller and alot bigger in size due to the mane.
