What about speed?
Goku only has access to SSJ 1 huh? Hmm...well putting Goku at the level he was right before he went to the Other World and trained for 7 years straight makes the fight more fair. But, I still say Goku wins 6/10 times. I know that's probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but...whatever. I'm a biased fanboy. Sue me.
@Smart_Dork_Dude: Why no pic of Goku?
I don't see Thor doing much against a super saiyan with no rules or no regard for safety. Goku can easily blow up the entire planet a few time over without thinking twice and classic thor cannot survive such an explosion. Goku's speed blitz and burst limit speed could potentially be near or slightly beyond light speed. Dont get confused by what deathbattle said, they were talking about flight speed and SSJ4 goku maxing out around 2x light speed. His burst speed is far beyond that. I don't see Thor beating ssj1 goku unless gokus first attack was to lock hands with Thor and try to manhandle him. If that is the case, Thor wins. If not, Thor loses.

@P0rtal: An unconscious Thor survived a Doomsday Bomb capable of destroying a planet. Thor himself has destroyed a planet before with his fists!!!

Pretty much. I've also always noted that if the battle were driven to the point that Goku tried a powerful blast, such as a Kamehameha, Thor could reflect it back and deal heavy damage (reflected blasts gain 10x their original power) to Goku if it hits.
And yes, it's all about bursts in DBZ. People don't understand that those seemingly long bouts they have really only last fractions of a second or less.
Refer to DBZ combat speed thread for details or just watch some Dragonball on your own. Within the first 10 episodes, Krillin as a child of less than 10 years old and Master Roshi were having extended fights and doing ridiculous things that the audience had no clue happened because they did it all within a few seconds.

really can you put scans, or at least point me the issue?
though, i think Goku is superior in every aspect, he wins this.
Thor cant go into warriors madness at will or as easily as goku can go super saiyan. In terms of physical strength, DBZ fighters are relatively weak. But, thor back in the day could not survive a 10x planet buster, which a super saiyan can deliver without much effort at all. Thor was never fast enough to deal with speed blitz.
Thats a great link, I've been looking for that Thor feat where he confirms he flew just a few times light speed. Still, thats with Mjolnirs help, not on his own. Awesome pack of feats they had there. Goku still wins, especially if the fight is a bloodlust event. Goku would not need to charge his energy to create an explosion that could wipe out the entire earth more than a few times over. Thor cannot survive that explosion and concussive force. He can survive the heat output though, Broly needed protection against lava and the sun incinerates everyone in dbz. I think Thor is more than capable of handling the heat output of our sun.
Thors Pros over Goku
-Greater physical strength, higher resistance to the elements like heat and cold, flight speed after tossing Mjolnir
Goku Pros over Thor
-Greater combat speed, energy output and overall durability to planetary scale explosions.
"No matter how much 0's you add to Goku's power level, he never destroyed a city..let alone a planet."
I love myself.

He was not. Gohan was. SSj1is more than sufficient to take out classic Thor. He was KO'ed and brutally manhandled by Hulk, Namor and Thing, along with a wide variety of other moderately powerful marvel characters. Gokus energy blasts hit a few billion times as hard as Hulk or Namors punches so Thor stands no chance what so ever. Again, it depends on how Goku would go about fighting him. If he immediately starts off with locking hands with Thor, then Thor will rip off Gokus arms with minimal effort. However, if Goku decides to start off with an energy blast, Thor is dead meat. Back then, he could not survive large explosions, let alone something powerful enough to destroy the earth 10-1000x over.

This would be true...if Mjolnir couldn't absorb and/or deflect nearly any type of energy.
This hammer doesn't work that way. It can only deflect something coming right at him that is of equal size to the length of Mjolnir and the lanyard. Does Thor no good if Goku fires on the ground, blows the planet up but not before teleporting away to safety.

No, but he's showed equal and superior destructive force and power than people who have
>Nappa effortlessly destroyed a city when he first arrived on Earth
>Freiza effortlessly destroyed a planet
>Android 19 and 20 effortlessly destroyed the first city they were predicted to appear in by Trunks

Show me scan of Goku surviving a planet explosion.

just out of curiosity, there is 2 things that people keep saying and that i find really wrong :
While Thor is slowpoke, he can miraculously intercept energy blast for some reason, and have high degree of success at doing it. He couldn't react to the fist fight, but energy blast? He can do it.

- DBZ characters have weak durability ?
- DBZ characters are weak to sun heat ?
1. Using the only 2 or 3 examples of low showings by Z characters they can find, ignoring all the low showings by comic characters, that's how comicvine rolls
2. Using example of Broly getting owned by the sun while simultaneously ignoring or downplaying all of his feats
Thor would win because this is classic Thor, Classic Thor actually had great speed and is fast enough to compete against Goku.
