Thor versus Silver Surfer

Fighting to the very best of their respective abilities who would win? I know there te a lot of these threads but I did not see one with the stipulation of both combatants fighting to their limits. If there is one, then my bad. Flag this.

They are perfectly matches. Though Thor has better record in the past, SS never defeated him in Earth-616 and also SS admit that Mjolnir's power is mightier than his herald cosmic power.

If you are asking this without Mjolnir, SS wins 10/10. With Mjolnir, Thor for the majority.

Could Thor absorb surfers cosmic power or his soul?

SS and his board, tried to boom-rush speedblitz Skaar (he failed because of Skaar's durability)

They are very similar in that. SS very very fast while using his board, and Thor very fast with Mjolnir as well.

Surfer's problem in this battle is Mjolnir's versatility. Power cosmic was usually ineffective against Mjolnir, and also Mjolnir is capable of absorbing SS's energy blasts. Since Surfer is not kind of brawler and lacks physical combat experience, Thor has a little advantage against him.

hasn't thor beaten surfer before. why should this time be any different?

Fighting to the best of their abilities then it's norrin 10/10, he's like a different person when he cuts loose, and he's also beaten beta ray bill easily and he's supposed to be thors equal in every way.

but it's likely u asked why godblast won't work... well for once, thor needs a good time charging for god blast.. and SS is too quick to sit around and give thor time for charge

Just base on their fights in the past to present I would like to say Thor at least 6 out of 10 times.

He can't because when Thor charges up his Godblast it not only requires time but the charging effects causes the area around Thor to light up like a Christmas tree - so there's no way SS won't notice it.

Surfer easily. And he's beaten up an alternate Cancerverse Thor and Beta Ray Bill with ease which are more reliable instances than the times Thor has beaten Surfer.

@easternwind: I can't be bothered to get scans right now, however ill just tell you some things he's done and your gonna have to look them up if you don't believe me.

He easily defeated (literally a few punches) beta ray bill who was committed to taking down galactus no matter what stood in his way. He tried to convince bill to stop but he wouldn't listen so norrin decided the only way to deal with him is a good ol fashion beat down, and that's what he did. Easily. It's worth to note beta ray bill is thors equal in every way and some even consider him to be more powerful because he doesn't care much about morals. That should be sufficent proof but if you still need convincing....

.... He can open black holes and use that to kill thor, amp himself with the power cosmic instead of blasting thor with it. There's countless ways he could win when letting loose. Surfer once blew up a planet easily and it was just to prove a point to someone.

@theamazingbatman: warrior madness thor is a liability, he has the mental capacity of a cabbage. Not to mention he probably won't use magic or his hammer which is his main defence against norrin.

Thor has always beaten or stalemated him. Using full power Thor wins.

@thedailybagel: Ill check out the respect thread. I think he could beat thor going all out myself honestly. Just looking for some good examples.

I dunno bout the Black Hole, has he done it in combat?

@erkan12: Superspeed is arguably the Surfer's most neglected power, many writers probably feel its "too much" when combined with his other powers. However you would have to overlook A LOT of his past showings to say his speed is restricted to just traveling and blitzing.

No thats not the point, it is because SS can't use super-speed (or even flight) without his board unlike speedsters.

I don't know , maybe he can still use his powers in WM , since he is only bloodlusted and amped up :P

@erkan12: One of Silver Surfers most noteworthy speed feats happened when he was technically not on his board.

Also he actually can fly without his board, though it's definitely not as impressive.
