Its just that Nova Prime has exceedingly powerful shield, thats the only real advantage i see against Superman. Granted at one point in time, Nova Prime lobotomized Ego, not too sure if he could that to Superman, Superman probably has him beat on strength, durability, as well as speed.

I dont think OB would be one of the most powerful blast given the fact that guys like say Spectre and Alan Scott can obviously produce blast of much greater power if need be.
that being said, contrary to what you were originally told, omega beam is far from being featless post crisis.
Omega beam has one shotted characters like Lobo (Lobo: Greatest Hits), Supergirl (Supergirl Vol 3, Issue 29), Kalibak (New God Volume 2, issue 12), Superman (Man of Steel 116) and Wonder Woman (Justice League Vol 4, 15). It also hurt Spectre if that any worth mentioning.
Also Thor never even reached close to killing Galactus, all he manage to do was harm Galactus and made him leave, after a already hungry Galactus had fought a long and hard battle against Ego. Thats one starving Galactus if you ask me. The same Godblast failed to harm Juggernaut.
