No. Parallax won that fight. Yes, it did take Parallax a lot power to do so, but he did win that fight. Parallax was defeated by Green Arrow. If the Spectre was capable of beating Parallax, he would've done so instead of being hit out of the page. It is implied that the Spectre was incapable of fighting any further. The Spectre's not the type to have others do his work for him. If he could still fight he would've gone back to fight Parallax.

Spectre didnt lose, at best he was momentarily KO'd. But the fact that at the end of their fight Hal had no more power, and Spectre shows up within a page or two afterwards with no apparent ill effects means that he basically won. Even in the case that Spectre was KO'd for those couple of pages, Hal could not have finished him off.

On the other hand, it's hard to draw a proper conclusion from that fight. At the beginning, Hal had already expended a lot of energy creating an entire universe. He might be able to win if he's fighting at his max power levels right from the start.

So, it's all just speculation as to who'd win. My feeling, however, is that Spectre would eventually win that fight.

@willpayton: Momentarily Ko'd...That means it need all of parallax hal jordan's power to defeat spectre(which was crispus allen, the weaker version host that did not fully understand and havent mastered spectre's power yet) ..

what is one strong reason spectre would have won the fight...It seems he was suppose to loose the fight??God didnt back him up or smtg?

Yeah not really no.

We see Spectre scream and actually disappear from in between the fight for 3 pages.

The fact that parallax was drained is better explained by heroes actually draining Parallax's power while he was fighting Spectre.

And that ignoring how BEFORE fighting Spectre Hal had just used his power to destroy and attempt to remake the entire freakin multiverse.

Not sure where people get that from but its not a win, at all, for Spectre there. Nor has Spectre without a plot actually beaten Parallax.

In fact, it was sort of implied (by Parallax himself, so not much of a reliable feat) that Parallax could be more powerful here:

Green Lantern Volume 4, Issue 50 : It was stated that even Spectre is afraid of Parallax (last panel), not sure what to make of that, or if that even counts as a feat.

Green Lantern Volume 4, Issue 51: (the very next issue after the above scan) Parallax fights and frees Spectre from his Black Lantern form, then rips his face off (which was pretty cool), Spectre confirms he is afraid of Parallax but manages to use Hal Jordan's connection with Carol to rip the Parallax entity out of Hal Jordan

There is very little to show Spectre superiority over Parallax in a direct comparison nor has Spectre, ever actually, under his power, without plot , beaten Parallax.

So in short while Spectre would likely win against Parallax (given this isnt Zero Hour, which was an amped up version and its unbound Spectre from DOV going by the picture in the OP), there is still not hard and fast feat that clearly proves, Spectre is superior.

As such the topic is pretty debatable, but yeah majority are going to vote for Spectre.

It certainly did not need all of Parallax power to KO Spectre, Parallax was simultaneously being drained by heroes, while fighting Spectre, and Spectre still didnt manage to actually win it, all he manage to do was get hurt and not show up again for 3 pages. And thats just ignoring how he had use a whole lot of his power to destroy and remake all reality.

Also it wasnt Cripsus Allen, it was Jim Corrigan as Spectre during Zero Hour, the most powerful host.

what is one strong reason spectre would have won the fight...It seems he was suppose to loose the fight??God didnt back him up or smtg?

There is no such thing as God backing Spectre, its just something fan have made up , not something backed by issue at all.

Spectre could probably have won the fight, but given the potrayal in the series, most likely Zero Hour Parallax was superior to Spectre than the other way around.

@killemall: And Spectre actually defeated Parallax when Hal was the host on The Spectre's tie in to Joker Last Laugh story arc.

Going by your scan it looks like Spectre (as Hal) manage to take over his own personality as Parallax (Hal).

That seem more like a fight between who was going to control the personality rather than fight of 2 creatures, sort of similar to what happened in Rebirth here:

@killemall: It wasn't an inner battle. When Spectre(Inexperienced at that time) tried to go in to Joker's soul, he was immediately shunted off and after Spectre was immediately sent back to his sanctuary, there was an ectoplasmic fluid coming down from Spectre's face and that ectoplasmic fluid was transformed into Parallax. Read Spectre Vol 4 Issue 10.

He probably could.

And no Spectre did not beat Parallax. Spectre was Hal Jordan, Parallax was Hal Jordan, there was a fight, or more so a contest of who would dominate Hal Jordan's persona and Spectre won at that time, and Spectre lost during Parallax rebirth.

Is this zero hour parallax a what?abstract?or some embodiment of fear...?

Parallax is a physical embodiment of feat.

Zero Hour Parallax, was actually written before the character Parallax was ever created, so that character's power comes from absorbing entire GL central battery + leftover energies from COIE.

Actually scratch that i have no idea what happened in the issue.

And the writer said the spectre (up there)he left because he was scared??what happen after that page??....total bad writing from the writer...he it self wan scary Ghost...the spectre..

After saying Spectre was afraid, Hal Jordan asked GL corps members that he wanted to be bonded with Parallax, which he does. Then he flies into the body of Spectre, who at the time was a black lantern, rips out the real spectre out, mocks Spectre, but Spectre finally manages to beat him using a plot, he uses Hal Jordan's connection with Carol, his girl friend, to rip Hal Jordan out of Parallax influence.

In Day of Vengeance with the fight between Captain Marvel and Spectre I could also say that Captain Marvel was momentarily KO'd by Spectre, and Spectre expended just about all his energy to do it. Afterwards Captain Marvel still recovered, but that doesn't mean he didn't lose that fight.

In fact, in any battle, if you lose, unless you flat out die, otherwise you are momentarily KO'd. You can most definitely recover afterwards, but that does not mean you did not lose the battle.

Parallax certainly didn't lose to Spectre.
