That was before Watchmen and although it wasn't in the movie, it still applies I would think as it was the sole reason Ozy killed The Comedian himself- he held a grudge against him.

Frank punched a hole clean through a guys skull. He was decent in hand to hand.
I'd give Frank the edge in firearms. He hit a guy dead on with an RPG. With that said guns are indeed the Comedian's best bet....
...because talking about Comedian beating Ozy is hyperbole at best. We don't know context for it to be applicable.
Punisher wastes the comedian he is better with guns and hand to hand both movie versions are about equal but frank takes the cake due to lack of morals and his specialty of using weapons and being a marine drill instructor

It was never shown in movies. We don't know how exaggerated a claim that is.
I don't recall hearing anything about that particular fight in the movie dialogue, but if it happened, it was a throwaway line with no way to know the facts.
