Pre52 MM was only able to talk in Primes mind, (only messing with his fears etc) and could not and I mean absolutely not do any thing else, because if he could, he would certainly have.

You would first have to explain how SBP can harm an intangible opponent, resulting in a "stomp" As you say. Considering MMH can stay intangible and can affect people's body on a molecular level via a combination of shapshifting and phasing, as he showed on Supes when he was poisoned with kryptonite. I see no reason why the same wouldn't apply to SBP
