Don't shoot the messenger. It happened in mainstream continuity, and as shown in the panel which I posted, the Joker won.

They were both more or less shown to be predictably pathetic fighters, as is consistent throughout their histories.

Hey, it was a h2h fight, and neither of them were using any tech or weapons. You have to admit that The Joker would always be the one who came out on top in a battle with those conditions. Of course, it'd be a whole different story if they had full access to their respective arsenals...

They're terrible fighters compared to the ones that do it on a regular basis.

All that training, and Lex still couldn't one(two, or three) shot a nerve-gassed Nightwing who kept back-sassing him after Luthor started yelling at him "to fall, damn him!". Because if you can't knock 'em out in that many hits, you might as well try telling or asking them. Or The Joker, who was again spending much of the altercation taunting him/not taking the fight very seriously.

They're near equally bad. Joker takes the edge though, due to weapons/equipment, and actually having more hand to hand feats.

Both are the greatest villains but Joker edges him out with his insanity .

If we're assuming Joker has his standard weapons, I'm assuming Lex has his, which makes this a crazy stomp in Lex's favor.

I think that if this a long drawn out battle taking place over weeks or months, Joker takes it. he is just way to unpredictable for Luthor.

Joker wins end of story Lex Tells Alex you think you're smart but you made a big mistake you didn't let Joker play, obviously he is afraid of the Joker and he killed Alex who is Lex's son who is just as smart as Lex himself and he wasn't prepared for him not to mention he killed Royal Flush Gang at the same time even Ace. Anything else that hasn't been proven is just fanboy talk there is more evidence of Joker beating Lex then there is of Lex beating Joker no arguments are accepted if the battle has already happened in a comic and the winner has been decided. By the way am I missing something here or isn't the point of having battles like this to post evidence of why you think one character will beat another what is the point of writing Joker or Lex if you post no evidence behind your opinion.

In a prep battle? Joker would have to cheat by lacing poison on the equipment Lex uses to build his suits or something along those lines.

Its a tough call. If it comes down to a fight between them I will say Joker has the advantage. If he can go head to head with Batman who knows 127 fighting styles no way in hell is Luthor going to win a brawl with the clown prince of crime.
But in terms of smarts and weapons and high tech suits Luthor wins this fight. While Joker would welcome death from anyone who can stop him I honestly cant see Joker matching up to weapons tech suits and Luthor's genius IQ. Don't forget he has come so close to killing Superman and Superman is 100 times beyond what Joker is capable of. Once Luthor uses his head and relies on smarts he can easily beat Joker.
So in terms of a fist fight I will give Joker the win. Lex wont be able to last in a fist fight against him. But prep time and weapons and planning Luthor wins

Without his battle suit Luthor might lose as Joker carries around deadly weapons and Luthor heavily relies on his bodyguards.

you have to admit, you asked a dumb question...

I mean, judging purely by feats, Lex should win as he's taken down the Justice League before and even become a god IIRC. However, the Joker is far more unpredictable than Luthor so I dunno. Really, though, Luthor has far more tech, firepower, money, and connections so in an all out fight, I'd say Luthor.

The joker is a greater chemist than lex luthor , if he was so smart why wouldnt lex do the same thing he did in injustice, youknow feargas +cryptonite. and to end this just look at arkham origins story joker can easily cripple roman sionis and hence hire the 8 assassins again , now lex is dead and when u said u never know when lex gets serious but joker is the most unpredictable character in dc and if he can obtain reality changing power with his psychology , leave lex luthor, dc would be dooomed . just imagine joker sitting at home threatens a hacker like he did in btas: nanobot joker and get upto 50,000,000 dollars or even double then hire guys like deathstroke,deadshot firefly, bane and chilling at home , LOL. just add up the worst and most powerful things lex and joker have done and then you will get the answer to who is better, stronger,scarier and powerful , but since is already did this. THE JOKER WINS!( PS: if you are wondering how joker got affected by fear gas in arkham knight here is why: the fear gas affected the joker who wan inside bruce wayne so in any point of time if bruce gets effected by fear gas joker would have to have a fear in bruces head and his fear of being forgotten because in reality he would never be forgotten as long as batman is remembered and besides , we are doing joker vs lex luthor , not joker who died and is now sparked alive with fear toxin in bruces head joker vs lex luthor , so there you have it)

The Joker has a madman's strength and savagery and he is a HIGHLY skilled fighter. The Joker has beaten Batman in fist fights several times including in their first encounter in Batman Issue One in 1940.
