Haven't seen much Doctor Who, but what (other than plot) keeps the alien of the week from just putting a bullet in his head and torching the corpse before he regenerates? Is this just the Superman vs Batman debate all over again?

@captain_clown: The Doctor is a master of getting inside of people's heads. Generally he can talk his way out of any situation and can place a seed of doubt or confusion in his enemy's mind before they get the chance to pull the trigger.

But that doesn't really effect this battle. Superman takes all three rounds.

If the Doctor has the TARDIS, he could probably win Round 1 outright by trapping Superman inside of it. A few audio dramas have shown that he can summon the TARDIS to him using the sonic screwdriver.
