Mangog is extremely durable, but the Destroyer Amour is more so. The Destroyer Amour has attacks like his beams which can hurt Mangog since they cut Mjolnir in two. Heck when Odin and Galactus fought, Odin summoned the Destroyer Amour, and Galactus kind of fleed not wanting to fight it.

Destroyer after a really long battle. That thing will not be scratched so easy.

Well this fight has a confirmed victor now. Mangog just chewed through The Destroyer's armour in The Mighty Thor #703.

The Destroyer armor is consistently more impressive. Being made of enchanted uru, plus being Odin's trump card for people like Galactus and the Celestials should put it above Mangog. And it can tear through Mjolnir with just one or two energy attacks. That is not a feat Mangog can replicate and that attack is certainly not something he is capable of tanking. Aaron's bad writing does not change that.

It really is Aaron's BS writing. The Destroyer armour should be more or less even against Mangog but Aaron having Mangog chomp through the armour was pretty ridiculous PIS.

Even though that feat is ridiculous, there's still some context behind it:

Due to the All-Mother being ill, there was a weakness within the Destroyer, meaning it's not as powerful as it normally is.

@thekinfing: @lvenger: The destroyers power has always varied based on the host iirc. Pretty sure kaiocool is right that the destoyer got wrecked because freyja is weak. Mangog seems to even note that.

@jashro44: But the Destroyer's done stuff like wreck Hela when Thor was inside it yet Plus, despite Odin having the option to wear the Destroyer armour to fight Mangog, he doesn't do so because he's too afraid of it. The intention being that Mangog is now too much for Odin. Which is a really weird insinuation.

@lvenger: I would have to read the story to see if there is a reason why Odin is weaker than mangog. That said isn't Thor more powerful than freyja? Plus the implication seems to be freyja was weakened because she is ill. Regardless I don't think what someone else does with the destroyer should apply to someone else using the destroyer. Especially in this case when freyja is ill.

Now mangog being more powerful than Odin in the destroyer is some shitty writing imo.

When Thor used the Destroyer Armor he was cursed by Hela with brittle bones and had just had a fight with the Midgard Serpent that nearly (or it did I'd have to go back for all the details) killed him. And he trailed into Hela's realm and made her uncurse him by defeating her in a battle.

I mean Maestro has used the armor in a dying state and was stomping 616 Hulk. The state of the person doesn't really affect its power.

I really hope Aaron has an explanation that isn't something pulled out of his ass for why Mangog is much stronger now.

The armor is composed of the same substance regardless of who is in it. The soul inside the armor should NOT affect it's durability.

Fair enough. Still it does seem like Aarons intended to have the destroyer weakened.

That's true but the durability of the armor should remain the same as far as physically destroying or damaging it. Also the destroyer is supposedly not even made of uru and is made of some metal more durable than adamantium or uru. I guess aaron wants to portray him as super powerful as he had him break war thors hammer as well. Mangog doing that to the destroyer is basically implying he would destroy galactus and odin physically and idk if he is that powerful. Mangog just chomped through the armor while it took many celestials to melt the armor. I realize the difference in blunt attacks vs energy ones but still. I'm curious how they are gonna stop mangog. Hopefully he is at least consistent with mangogs portrayal and doesn't have him get beat by one of the thors or something.

Taking out the destroyer using physical means is something odin/galactus would struggle to do. They'd probably need reality warping to do so. Without the recent feat of eating the destroyer I would have backed the destroyer armor here.
