I don't like how there are "IMO" and "IMHO". Does that mean whenever you see "IMO" it means that that person is a lying liar?

I never understood the difference between "PIS" and "CIS" either.

The definition of Jobbing looks wrong. I though it was some powerful that loses to someone weaker to boost their credibility. Deathstroke stabbing Flash comes to mind.

IMO and IMHO aren't really different. They're both commonly used and should both be on the list.

PIS is for the sake of the plot. CIS is because one of the character underestimates the other, or acts out of character (as in, the outcome CAN be explained).

When people use the word "Jobber" here, it's to describe a character that has a lot of low-end feats. Like Killer Croc or Rorschach.

I wasn't disputing IMO and IMHO being on the list. Or PIS and CIS for that matter. Just thinking out loud.......so to speak. I can't believe I've been using the the word "jobber" wrong. That's kind of a bummer.

I wouldn't say "wrong", very concievable that this is the proper meaning of the word, I just posted what I see being used most.

Humble doesn't necessarily mean your not lying. It just infers that there is a possibility your not correct. That maybe you lack all the fact but with what you have that is your stance. With just IMO your saying that's my opinion and and that's it. You don't feel the need to justify or explain.

I meant the version of "imho" where the H means "honest".

@the_red_viper: Also "Big G" has also been used to refer to Godzilla on multiple occasions. And with a new Godzilla movie coming out early next year, that may be a bit more popular around these threads.

Thanks for reading,

@the_red_viper:

CIS isn't necessarily out-of-character. In fact, CIS is aalmost always In-character. PIS and CIS, though hated, are vital parts of a storyline, and often allow a hero to win against his (usually stronger than himself) villian. if all of a character's villians were weaker than himself, the plot would be boring and there wouldn't really be adversity for the character to overcome.

back on topic though, CIS(character induced stupidity) is usually in character, and can be as simple as character A underestimating character B and losing because of it, when in reality, character A is >>>> character B.

It's really just a character's stupidity causing him to lose a battle he should have won. just as PIS i the plot needing Someone to lose a battle they should have won.

I know. It could also refer to a character acting OOC, which is why I mentioned both.

What does "/thread" mean?

It's like saying "there's no point commenting on this thread anymore". Usually when someone gives some sort of witty answer to some question or something.

this is great

@the_red_viper:

But I think the spelling is actually SpOck

Tank- to be able to take a hit or hits ie Hulk can tank hits from the thing with relative ease

Troll- that guy who's saying crap about you, even when it's out of context

In before the lock- the post has something wrong with and will likely be locked. it ie spite, flame war, wrong topic, innuendos, vulgarity, etc.

@the_red_viper: Could you make a list of frequently used battle forum words like bloodlust, overkill, etc. basically nouns that are used numerous times in the battle section.

I haven't seen this one yet.

One shot = When a character is capable of defeating another character with a single attack. For example, Darkseid one shots Batman.

@the_red_viper: Shouldn't this be on FP?... Or linked in one of those other pinned things somewhere? Unless I'm horribly unobservant in which case some hand holding is necessary.

It used to be pinned, but was removed.
