Well Darkseid was created to be a failure in DC as Dr. Darkseid or whatever he was. Only in New Gods is where Darkseid really had respect; but that was back in the 70's or early 80's. Thanos was created somewhere along the lines of the 70's so there not much of a "Thanos was originally meant to be Marvel's Darkseid" because Thanos was created to be a Titan, while Darkseid started of as an alien species and then recreated as a New God.

Neil Gaiman made thing pretty complicated with his eternals reboot. One of the things he introduced was that eternals cannot leave earth... So what the hell?

Ok... well to make things even more extraordinary. Thanos is not just an "alien/Titan/Eternal". He is also a mutant Titan! Though Darkseid was created 1st; It was Thanos that reassembled the creators of DC to recreate Darkseid as the being we all know him as today.
It's not that they can't leave, it's that they are connected to the Earth. As long as the Engine (Earth) is still there, an Eternal can continue to live and revive indefinitely. After all, Sersi has left Earth many times, and Makkari has gone out into space a few times as well. Though Sprite's little reality fuking has screwed up a lot of things.

Umm no. The Eternals of Titan fled Earth to go to Titan, Thanos was born to Alars, aka Mentor, and Sui-san, he is an Eternal with the Deviant Syndrome, which is why he doesn't look human.

I'm going with Thanos. I remember when the masters of evil almost killed Hercules and Zeus blamed the Avengers. A frail boned Thor and Captain Marvel(Photon) almost took Zeus down so i give it to Thanos. Plus since the time Thanos fought Odin he has achieved more power. Thanos FTW

Several official sources have all confirmed that Zeus was pretty much an equal to Odin and they have faught before (although briefly) at the heads of their respective armies and Odin did not swat down the Olympians.
